The problem is now the trailer air supply (red button) won’t stay pushed in. It just pops right back out. So I can’t even supply the trailer with air.

With the air lines on the trailer hooked up, push the red in and hold it in for 15-30 sec, it should stay in.

It won’t stay pushed in, no matter how long you hold it in. I hooked the emergency line up to the airline setup i have to air up the tires and it still won’t stay pushed in.

we're going from bad to worse here. I think it is time to call in professional help or someone who knows air system to put another set of eyes on the problem.

It is likely something simple, crossed lines, something left dis-connected etc, but before you do more, we need better info then you can provide. Not you fault, you just don't have the experience needed.

Mecho,Joey Mack or I can't "see" what is happening and how the valves and air system is from this end of a computer screen.

We are working blind, and you can see but don't know air systems well enough. Not a good chance of success.

Do you know anybody with more experience that can come and help you?

Geeze, that would have been helpful to know!

You knowth not what your knowth not!

So we can conclude the original was defective, at least in some part. So it was good you replaced it.

again a lack of clarity is leading to problems.

I am going to walk away, this is obviously way beyond what you can do, and you should either find someone local to come and help you or pay for a shop to work on it.

I had said that in the beginning, I said it needed to be changed out regardless. I have a buddy helping me out over the phone but he’s at a loss on what it could be also. At this point might have to find a mobile mechanic who can come out and take a look. Clearly I can’t get the trailer to move at all.

This is a far cry from "it came apart when I removed it"!

It did come apart when i removed it but okay. Got the new maxi valve in was able to finally get the trailer air supply knob to stay pushed in, have something holding down that trolley brake, and found an brake can leaking on the last rear axle.

If you’re going to change that can you stay on the slack adjuster side when you undo the clamp or you’ll end up warring it! Looks like a long stroke 30/24 kind of odd! Release the trailer brakes before you try and block the wheels!

That would most likely be a leak in the service side. (still needs to be addressed)  Wouldn't have much effect on the red knob symptom.  You'd need to chock the wheels. Then make sure the wheels are cholked, then push the red one in and look (or listen) for air leaks in the trailer.

a leaking chamber on the service side will NOT drain the air tanks unless you are sleeping in the driver seat all night long with your foot on brake pedal . original statement was  " gage goes to 80 when i hook trailer and push in button. tanks are draining over night there is another issue

Mech..... if we could only go help this guy out, then go to Texas Roadhouse

sadly in todays world , I can't chance working on a brake system not being commercially insured . working on the farm with hay balers/farm tractors is a different world. when someone buys a coffee at McDonalds and sues them cause the coffee was toooo hot !!  never had a concern over helping others back then. unit of conversation has to go to a registered location. ☹️

can only hope there is a follow up/update  to this issue , with positive repairs and NOT letting the unit go up/down these CT road with known safety issues. MY Children and many other innocents travel these rotten over crowded roads.
