According to their website they don't make anything larger than a 3500 chassis cab anymore. 14,000 GVW max. Chevy on the other hand makes a 6500 with a max GVW of 23,500, which I believe is just a rebadged / joint venture Navistar product with GM engines under the hood.

Back in the early 2000s you could still get a GMC C8500 tandem with a Caterpillar C7 at 350hp. A lot of them had Eaton 8LL transmissions. Its possible someone could have added a pusher axle to one of these and that is what you saw. Not sure when they stopped that series of trucks but it was probably at least 10 years ago now. There was a period of time when the biggest thing GM made was a 3500 pickup. Then probably 4 or 5 years ago now they came out with that 45,55, and 6500 series of trucks made by Navistar. But only as a Chevy. And like I said the highest GVW available is 23,500lbs so only single axle setups. Down right hideous if you ask me.
