Trying to start it, and i can hear it "sputter" or "hiss" and try to start but no joy... it did back fire once... any ideas?? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
1958 F.W.D. Posted June 18, 2017 Share Posted June 18, 2017 Are you drawing fuel from the tank or through a temp can set up? I wonder if the system is not fully primed? Make sure the fuel tank level is above the pickup tube, that the lines and filter are primed, etc. If all of this is confirmed, then maybe rig up a temp can/tank that is above the pump, allowing gravity to drop the fuel through the pump. I think... i set up a temp system where the fuel tank was and have good fuel to the pump and the carb... it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't successfully fire..
