Slow air shifter

A mate of mine has just fitted a 12 speed gearbox to his R model and the air shift is slow shifting into reverse as well as between low and high . He has put new kits into the air gear on top of the gearbox as well as a new gear knob .The air pressure to the gear knob is 70 psi. Would anyone have any thoughts on what could be th problem

the shifter rods under the lids might have some surface rust maybe? you can take the lids off with the box still in getting the rear lid back well he will a whole fresh bunch of swear words . Has he looked the air rams maybe there leaking? "O" rings maybe buggered ?

good luck with this

The system was designed to be regulated with about 70 psi of air.

Another thing to check would be any junk in the air lines between the shifter knob and the trans. air cylinders including the exhaust line.

Some will add more psi to the system to mask the problem but that can lead to parts bending or breaking.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

thats good to hear the problem solved

I dont worry about using the clutch to split just flick the switch and back off the go pedal and then straight back into it if dosnt shift clean straight away you have some other problem .

Just a word of warning if your mate hasn't driven one of these and are used to a shudder "road ranger" ur yuck as soon as flick the switch it puts pressure on the selector fork trying to change it were as the the other inferior brand only try to change when the stick goes thru neutral
