aran trading . . .

Recommended Posts

so, one of the local dealers, aran trading, has disappeared from truckpaper.com, and their web site doesnt answer. at this point, it has been several days. any of you local Massachusetts people know anything about what is going on? there is a CL listing for an old fire truck with their number . . . .

well, i would have expected a fire sale, or auction, or something if this was a traditional going out of business situation. . . . . . . . just one day the truckpaper.com listings disappeared (i often check out the superliner listings to see what is out there, and they were always there near the top of my listing (sorted by distance)).

well, i suppose i could always get off my ass and drive up there and check it out myself . . . . . . just hoping one of the insiders here had the story . . . .

I work half a mile down the road from them, the trucks are all still there and it appears the business' doors are still open. My boss' dad is the local townie gossip king and I'm sure if there was something to say he would have spilled those beans all over town, so who knows. I'll definately poke my nose around somewhat on Monday morning though! :)

looks like a liqudation sale

Cant copy and paste ,,,,,,,,,,,,go to page 66-67

looks like they took $5000 off the DM

http://www.truckntrailer.com/ebook/

interestingly enough, none of the "classic" trucks are listed, only the "antiques". and he takes one of the spots to showcase some race car he supports.

i wonder if he is just tightening up on the "collection", or if everything is moving down the road . . . his listings tend to hang around for a long time . . . .

i also wonder if this has something to do with al curtis' death. someone here mentioned they were good friends . . . .

i like the new viewer, you can jump right to the page using the drop down menu and selecting aran trading. i dont like that it uses flash, which doesnt run on my phone, so i had to track down a computer to look at it on . . . .

I have called and e-mailed him asking him to send me a list of the fire trucks he has for sale without any response from him. Seems pretty strange to me that a company that is in business to sell items won't respond to a customer's request.

I have spoken to the owner at a couple of shows and on the phone once. Seems like a nice guy, but as I said he doesn't seem to want to sell anything when you get right down to it.

Money, sex, and fire; everybody thinks everyone else is getting more than they are!

Their ad in truck buyers guide says "Dave wants out of the old Mack business". It lists other trucks like normal, but only the steel nose DM from the "old Macks".

I guess he dropped the online listing because they were not generating leads . . . . .

Ah, and the plot thickens. Now that I am reading through my copy of the truck buyers guide, I find a 1/4 page ad on page 20 from the owner of Aran Trading looking to lease garage office space. From the description, it sounds like most of his work space.

Here is the online copy. I cant get it to load, because I don't have flash . . . .

He's been working on moving all the containers into the old MobileMini property on US-1 in Newbury, about 5 miles south. He's been cleaning out that property for about 8 months I think and the containers will end up down there, so now he has some space to lease out on Main St. The word on the street is that he's just trying to slim down the collection of old trucks cause they haven't been selling, but as was mentioned before I really don't think he ever wanted to sell any of them in the first place :)

Ahh, but the ad is not offering yard space, at least not alone, it is offering garage and office space also.

There is more going on than meets the eye . . . . .
