  1. I love the sound of a tip turbine. I have a 285 in my r model. Cheers, Rob
  2. Interesting I worked at H and H Mack in Rockaway in parts back in 97 for about a year and a half. This was when triaxles started to become real popular in Jersey and they were specced light with 44 rears most of them. At one time we had fifteen axle housing replacements at once because these guys were overloading the crap out of these trucks and cracking the housings. When Mack finally came out with the 46's that seemed to solve a lot of problems. A lot of guys went to 50's, 52's and 54's and upgraded to 12r24.5's. The triaxle I ran for Gulino was Sanchez's and it had 52's, 20 tag and 18 front but Joe changed tires to 12r's rear and 425's on tag and front. We did a lot of dirt work so this truck held up pretty well. I'm not a fan of light tri axles. Cheers, Rob,
  3. Should be gloss flat will dull out faster I would think. I like the contrast. Then again I like weird colors/combos on trucks. Cheers, Robert
  4. I like Jeff's rd's use to hang out with him in Englishtown at the truck show good guy. I would really like to see more pics of those Maisanos trucks they look really sharp. Cheers, Rob
  5. When Jack Shortway had it it was in good shape. I know it was repowered probably a two valve. Murray bought it and it was starting to go down hill. I think it was the producer who had bought it for another movie. Jack also had a GMC General with a 8v92 with 6 inch straight pipes and a nasty Jake on it. It sounded like an aircraft coming in. John Mauro ran his restored B81 full time for a while when he sold his RD to Spina Paving. I think that was in 98?. Robert
  6. Just a little more info on this truck. Jack Shortway did own it and then sold it to Murray Paving from Mahwah,NJ. The story I got since we shared a yard with Murray and Mike Jost Excavating who had two Autocars in the movie was that the producer liked the look of the Autocars and went to Hudson County Motors in Secaucus and the salesmen directed him to guys in the area. They came to Bolkema Fuel to look at the trucks and saw Murray's Mack sitting there. This truck was sold and went down south I thought and was in another movie. If you got the chance to see this film in the movies when it came out the scene where they are at the construction site Iron Horse Construction from Oakland has his DM800 go by in the background loaded to the gills with sand. You don't see it on the dvd I think it has to do with screen size of something. Mike Josts two drivers had to be in the city at 4:00am every day and just sit there as they were not aloud to drive they had to use union movie drivers I guess Cheers, Robert.
  7. That color blue sure looks like Onorati from Boonton I believe? They have a nice fleet. Mark I see that Creative paving Mack on the road it is a very clean unit. Cheers, Robert
  8. You are allowed 80,000 in Jersey for a triaxle. Tandem is 72,000 and change tecnically. Cheers, Robert
  9. This is very interesting. You are taking photos of peoples trucks either working, on the road or at a truck show it really should be fair game. I could see it being a problem if it was a guy who did this for a living and posted pics from a photo shoot so yea that would be a copyright problem. You know a good friend of mine I used to drive for had a pic posted on Flickr that was taken of him going down rt 46 in Jersey and when I told him he was kinda nervous that his truck was all over the internet since he has had trucks stolen in the past. His Pete is beautiful and he should be flattered but some people are funny that way. My point is copyrighting a hobby is stupid as we are all enthusiasts and enjoy what people have to offer with their photos. Cheers, Robert
  10. 16.5 with 52's, 20 on self steer tag 20 on front. 12r24.5 rear with 425's on front. 17.5 is a bit of a pain in the ass pulling a 20 ton tag especially around the areas I know you work. Cheers, Robert
  11. My favourite trans. The only thing I don't like is the deep reduction on the dash. I would move it to the stick. Cheers, Robert
  12. Bullhusk, I think if you ran heat on the Bristol Donalds they would rust out in the channels. One of the best bodies to pave with though. The last big tandem I drove was a 99 rd688sx 350 etec 8ll fuller, 58 rears 18 front, 11r24 tube type rubber for L.Demarino from Ramsey. The body was Bristol Donald T1 1/4 inch floor T1 sides and T1 3/8's gate 8 panel. The only thing the 8 panels would crack better to go 9 or 12 pointed ribs. Cheers, Robert
  13. Gary Wiggers used to be a die hard traditionalist and had 11r24 rubber for years and just in the past couple of years he went to 12r24.5 tubeless. He still uses the old school style Bristol Donald with the old style heated body vents. When he used to hire trucks his old man used to load us with a 963 cat track loader and keep putting it on until it spilled off the sides. I think he still thought it was the 1960's in Bergen County LOL. By the way this was only about 5 to 6 years ago. We were running new style rd's with 58 rears 18 fronts Bristol Donalds and 11r24's and we were sweating it out with the weight pulling out of his jobs. Cheers, Robert
  14. Mark, Peter Van Hool also has a Bmodel tractor too he still uses. Cheers, Robert
  15. Hi Chuck from Bergen County originally went to high school in Brick and now living in Hillburn NY just over the border from Mahwah NJ. Cheers, Robert
