  1. Hey otherdog, sounds kindda like when I was a kid and had to walk to school in a foot of snow uphill both ways! Ha,Ha. Steve.
  2. I was hoping someone has a answer for this. I have a 1964 b-67 twin screw. I'm getting ready to reinstall the torque rods but need a few parts. I need some springs to hold the canvas to the rod. The spring and (washer, cap, spacer whatever it is) to apply tension to the ball. and maybe some other stuff that decides it needs to be there. These are the old rods that look like big tie rod ends. Or better yet can I use some parts from the steering drag link off the parts truck? Or should I get the Meritor custom fit all that looks like modern tie rod ends with a sleeve in the center that you weld? This is one of the final this to do to get the rear of this truck restored. I'm still working on pics. to post and there will be alot. Steve.
  3. What is a frame mount spring brake? would'nt the brakes apply or release every time there is weight on the truck? I'm not being a smart ass, just wondering.
  4. Hi Larry, do you have ribs in the front? If so check if on or two of the ribs are higher in one spot. If so you have a belt seperation. Run your hand side to side all around the tire. If you feel that one row of rib is higher in one area (6,12,16 inch.) That's the problem.
  5. I had the same problem last week on my 1-ton dump. A belt broke in my r/f tire. You almost can't see it, it runs down the rib or tread of the tire not across. Your best bet is to fell for a high spot or jack it and spin the wheel looking at the top for a high spot!!! Good luck! Steve.
  6. It may be too late now but back when I worked at the Mack dealer one of the oldtimers gave me a great tip. Find some phone or data cable (with multiple small wires within), about one foot. Pull a piece out and cut it in half (about six inch) and wrap one half on each end of whatever your removing. Works great because there is 12 or more wires in a cable, and they are all differnt colors. Steve.
  7. HUH! I was just searching the market place and there were no listings under FREE.?!?
  8. Thanks guys. Mike, that's the Cog Railroad going up Mt. Washington. I have not been on it but they have a auto road to the summit, I've been on that a few times. Nice ride, you should try it. Rob, seems you have a collection! I'll be taking a ride out to Morrison IL. on the 16th. Steve.
  9. Hi, I've been on this site for a few months now and found alot of good info! My name is Steven Brunelle. I live in Amherst N.H. A few months ago I picked up a 1964 B-67ST and a 1957 B-61T. I'm currently restoring the B-67 and using the B-61 for some parts. I got the b-67 running and working on the rear half first. I've been through the diffs., relined the shoes, cleaned the frame and working on getting the drums turned. Once I get the hubs/drums back on I need to paint from cab back and flush the rear ends. Then off comes the cab and the frame gets put away for the snow. I have been taking pics. and will post for all when I get a chance. Steve. Truck info: 1964 B-67ST 9040 5-4 trans. bogie twin screw END673P 1957 B-61T 12613 5-4 trans Single axle END673
  10. I have a 1957 673 in a b-61. All intake hoses have been off for who knows how long but I can turn it over by hand. Also I have my eye on a few more trucks if you need something, (b-67,2-b-61s). I'll get the numbers off my b-61 this weekend, let me know if your interested. Thanks, Steve.
