Now you are riding in style!

Take off is done with a gun.
Put on is done with a ratchet while making them true.
Finish with bar and double check true.
Only need 250 ft lb of torque on clean dry threads with 3/4" 10 tpi studs.

The motor looks pretty good to me. Period Continental in a Mack.
I am NOT a fire guy but it is interesting not to have dual ignition with two spark plugs per cylinder.
As Carl suggested, writing to the Mack Museum (include a donation) will get the build paperwork on your truck and lots of details. Nothing is better than information from the manufacturer! They should have the original motor number listed to match to the truck's serial number.
Maybe the original fire truck motor died and a "civilian" motor was put in as a replacement therefore single spark plugs?
Like I said, I am not a fire guy.

Continental made them for Mack.
I have some smaller Mack motors EN11 and EN12 which are Continental 210 cid and 226 cid.
Very nice Type 45!

The hardnose radiator does make it look more rugged the softnose version.
I think I have seen one softnose LM in person and a couple in books.
Great Picture!

Better start looking for a sleeper!

A pretty common one is Midland EL13111 or comparable.
In the $300.00-350.00 range with core.

Also, having 11R24.5 available makes sense because I bet there were may truckers asking "What the f@ck is size 285/75R24.5?"

Pretty interesting to read that the Goodyear tires fitted to the trucks were molded with "Magnum" in the sidewall.

I asked a friend of mine and he had good luck with Loctite 272 for some 1 1/4" bolts and supposedly is good to 450 degrees.
I like the idea of going back to studs as well.

I can't help with a 1999 diagram or AC setup but there is a 1983 wiring diagram in the BMT Wiki section of this site.
Click on classic and antique information and then go to page 4 for the diagram. Might help narrow things down for you.

Do you mean that Volvo's ownership of the Mack brand has resulted in a vastly poorer customer experience at Mack distributors? I'm shocked. How could that be? The Swedes told me their way was better.
Is Volvo involved with Obamacare?

Seems to be enough interest to run another batch of mirror brackets.
I wonder what number a "run" would have to be?

It is pretty easy to do and not much money. Check with some dump truck operators for a shop in your area.
Not having a pintle or air to the rear shouldn't be a deal breaker if the rest of the truck checks out.

She must be waiting for the local train because she doesn't have any luggage.

You can edit it to say SOLD.

Yikes! That float really let go.
Glad to see the truck upright and everyone ok.

Could have had 3.71 in a CRD 117 carrier.

Sounds great!
Will will wait patiently (maybe) for photos....

Make sure your buddy doesn't scrap that cab!
Lot's of parts left such as the two curved front windshield glass.

Been a loooooong time, but my recollection is the shaft should come out the top. Soak it with penetrating oil and GENTLY tap with a brass punch from the oil pump side toward the head.

Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of becoming an independent country July 1, 1867.
