  1. I though just the springs were heavier duty, so the differentials have bigger bearing and such?
  2. The truck was made in the US and has a US VIN. Looks like the average axle spread.
  3. I want to buy a Mack CHU613 SFA with 380,000 miles for $65,000 asking price. It's bright red, has a mid roof sleeper, wet line, nice interior, great power. 505 hp MP8 with an eaton 18 spd, and 3.73 rears. CLEAN TRUCK. LOOKS BRAND NEW. Still has the remaining balance warrenty. 120,000 miles and/or 1 year. It also has the fancy exhaust cleaners and. Burners, which is where my concerns are. Is this a good truck or is 2012 a bad year?
  4. Tidewater Mack says it has 3:73. Not a deal breaker, probably what I really need anyways.
  5. Yep, I just talked to them and was coming here to update. He said $800 to Buffalo NY or $1,800 to Baltimore, MD. Waiting to find out what the rear axle ratio is. Hoping it's 3:30 or 3:55
  6. I was looking at newer trucks and wondered too.
  7. Ok. Thanks for the response. There's a truck in Canada i want but because of where it is, I probably can't get it home into the states
  8. Is there a better way than truck paper to find a used truck?
  9. I've had good luck with my E7 380HP, but my truck is older, '99.
  10. I found my dream truck, but its in Canada, which scares me because I know nothing about importing a truck. Some details about the truck. Its a 2012 CHN613 axle forward. with a 505HP MP8 and 18spd. Has the DEF and exhaust filters, Its in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, just across the border of NY. What should I be worried about?
  11. I bought a new set of keys and cylinders for my truck. Three, one for the steering wheel, and two for the doors. Does anyone know how to replace the cylinder in the steering wheel?
  12. Mack and Volvo rear suspensions are the same other than there front hangers right?
  13. According to the RoadRanger Ratio Calculator, 4:11 gears running at 1500 RPM will only be 56.6 MPH while the 3:73 gears will be at 62 MPH. Think I want to either stay with 3:55 or 3:73.
  14. I live close to Norfolk, VA. I'm in Moyock, NC, just under the VA line.
  15. I have a 1999 Mack CH613 with a set of Spicer axles. The forward axle in-put yoke is wobbling, Its been to a shop for repairs (Replaced yoke, tightened the nut) These repairs improved the vibration. So now I had Tidewater Mack gave me a quote on a new (or rebuilt) differential, with labor, $4,200. They also said it was no longer in production, and would be hard to find. Parts will obviously become hard to find soon. SO, I want to replace both front and rear axles with another "make" of axles. I have 3:54 ratios now, I think I want to go with 3:73 or possibly 4:11s. My truck can do 70 MPH on flats but does about 25-30 MPH going over mountains like Afton VA and Sandstone WV. I either want Mack, Eaton, or Rockwells. I'm leaning towards Rockwells. So can any axle cut-offs work? Like from a Freightliner, Volvo, International? Can the yoke be swapped to fit the drive shaft Spicer SPL-250 U-Joints or just take my drive shaft to a shop and swap (weld a new yoke) out a yoke? Do I only need to worry about the Track Bars line up or is there more to watch out for?
  16. Between the yoke and bearing? And wouldn't I need to be adding?
  17. Hey wilbur, where you located? I have a rear rear spicer in my truck that's in good shape, front rear needs new yoke bearing, but for your idea, you could buy a used trailer axle and bolt that in place of the rear rear, and use my rear rear in the forward position. I'm thinking of trying to find some mack rears for my truck. My ratio is 3:54
  18. Me again with yet another Spicer issue. Now that I replaced my transmission, my front axle, front yoke is starting to wobble. how hard and/or expensive is it to tear apart and repair by my self?
  19. Try going straight from the battery with an in-line fuse, 30 blade would be more than enough. Run both ground and hot straight back and forth to the battery.
  20. It's sad. I had my head liner out to run new speaker and aux wires for the FM radio. They only had some yellow foam squares stuck up there, leaving lots of bare metal still exposed.
  21. Sounds expensive, perhaps find the buzzer / light wire and add an after market buzzer somewhere.
  22. What's the core value of a v8? If it sounds good I would buy it.
