  1. I think they just took a Prevost (not cheap!) motor coach and modified the grill. It's supposed to be on tour now, showing off Mack's remanufacturing capabilities.
  2. Have you seen that Redneck Comedy Tour where they go through a bunch of old pictures at the end of the show? There's the one of Jeff Foxworthy posing in a full body orange jumpsuit on top of a car,...that's kind of what I was expecting to see here. Suprising how some stuff lasts and the memories you attach to it.
  3. This is the new ReMack mobile training center. See here for the complete story: http://www.macktrucks.com/default.aspx?pageid=4901
  4. Is your truck set up with a chassis mount charge air cooler or does it have a series charge air mounted on the engine? Being a 350 I think it should be CAC but I can't remember for sure. If it is CAC and has the bypass piping for cold start you might look there too.
  5. All the stuff on the desk is supposed to indicate you're a genius, so I'm guessing the pyramid of beer cans qualifies you as some kind of avant garde interior design genius. Feng Shui master perhaps?
  6. The pricing is available only to dealers, as far as I know Mack does not make direct sales to customers (maybe to some of the big fleets). Tell them to check PSM10-M-US-148, if they still won't cooperate I would try a different dealership if there's one close by. I noticed that the DM cabs were somewhat limited in selection and quantity and that they weren't discounted as much as some of the others.
  7. According to Mack there were 5,169 RS700 built 1966-1979, and 4,038 RL700 built 1966-1979.
  8. It should be stamped in 1/2" high lettering on the right side frame rail around the front axle area on a CX.
  9. There are a few different reversing relays, and I forget what the difference was between them. They do bleed air from the brake system by design. It sounds like maybe the puff limiter is shimmed out too much with the same result as turning off the air to it.
  10. I got this email and figured some off you would enjoy it. Saw these photos on the Internet about the correlation between a person's mind and his desk... William F. Buckley Nat Hentoff – author, columnist, journalist Albert Einstein Obama
  11. 1989 tune up specs call for 19-27 psi, should be about the same for 1988. Check the reversing relay and fittings on the intake manifold (that runs over to the puff limiter on the fuel pump) if it's still there.
  12. This sign is supposed to be from a store in Texas. I'm suprised they (Texas) haven't followed Arizona's lead and added all aliens, legal or illegal, to those under suspicion.
  13. Here's a picture of it and the mounting hardware, brackets, etc. The part number for the aluminum version of the tank is 22QE41192. 12" diameter by 50.88" long, 5449 cu in capacity. tank.pdf
  14. It's been a while since I've seen any of these on a truck. Timberline Steel had a 1998 or 99 CH with chains around here for a while and seemed to like them. http://insta-chain.com/ http://www.onspot.com/
  15. Plus with the cooler still installed, and no EGR going through it, the cooling system capacity is larger.
  16. If you have enough room you might be able to mount the longer tank that many of the RD chassis have.
  17. Very interesting. I have wondered if it would be possible to plug the port leading to the venturi pipe and weld a new stub onto the mass flow tube which would be redirected back to the exhaust pipe. This would result in flow past the sensor but not back into the engine.
  18. Tune up specification for 1996-1997 emissions call for oil pressure at operating temperature of 10-30 psi at 600 rpm, 34-64 psi at governed rpm
  19. The oil pressure should be the same as what is shown on the gauge. If the gauge reading is not low, remove the oil feed hose and check it for restrictions, etc. that would reduce oil pressure. If nothing wrong is apparent you would have to fabricate a hose and "T" fitting to connect to the turbo oil feed line in order to directly measure the pressure being fed to the turbo.
  20. That is the engine shutdown indicator. It should only come on for low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, low coolant level, high transmission temperature, and high pyrometer. If everything was ok then you may have an electrical problem, but it sounds like maybe the coolant level is a little low a sloshed away from the sensor contacts. That's where I would start checking. Did the EML (lightning bolt) come on at the same time?
  21. I'm not exactly sure it will help, but can't hurt to have it on hand. Try these links: http://www.bendixvrc.com/itemDisplay.asp?documentID=5569 http://www.bendixvrc.com/itemDisplay.asp?documentID=5483
  22. No, 1280 deg. is the maximum allowable temperature, but you should be seeing somewhere around 900 deg. if everything is right.
  23. I think so, but if you pressed hard enough you might be able to get a break on a different model cab, if the dealer really wanted your business. There are several part numbers available, there are 21 listed. Special pricing only goes until August 31, 2010. Supply is limited to existing merchandise
  24. Boost specification should be 27-33 psi at full load rated speed. Maximum pyrometer reading is 1280 deg.
  25. Right. I'm kind of wondering if the turbo and Jake issues are related to oil pressure, what's the oil pressure?
