  1. Hey Tom, you still work for the H.H. Moore don't you? Gotta be a gold watch in your near future.
  2. Happy birthday Leon, hope you get out for a nice leisurely ride today. Keep up the good work and keep us up to speed on the wonderful world of Mack in the Netherlands!
  3. The problem with the brass bushed trunnions is that the adjusting nut can eventually work loose. If it gets loose enough it will knock a hole in the aluminum cover. The procedure says that the spring should be removed in order to adjust the trunnion, since you're just looking to check it I wouldn't worry about pulling the springs. Might want to recheck the u-bolt torque (if you have large enough tooling to do so) and raise the weight off of the trunnion and grease it. trunnion adjustment.pdf
  4. A dealer can reprogram your ECUs, but probably just with the original Mack software and datafiles. In special cases there are service files that can be enabled to help specific problems. You can buy aftermarket "power boxes" that are supposed to increase power.
  5. There are a couple of different types of trunnion bushings/housings. There is a brass bushed trunnion that has greaseable caps (this trunnion needs to be adjusted periodically to keep the correct thrust on the trunnion), a one piece encapsulated rubber bushing (no good at all in my opinion), and the split trunnion with rubber bushing. Roll under the truck and look for a gap between the trunnion bushing housing and the dead axle. There should not be much difference in gap when comparing the top of the trunnion to the bottom. You can jack against the trunnion housing between the u-bolts and watch to see how much the housing moves up before the rest of the truck starts to raise off of the ground. If I remember correctly haven't you been looking for the source of this wobble for awhile now? You might re-post what you've tried so far.
  6. That's a lot of miles, think I'd pay $100 just to see it.
  7. I don't think I've ever seen transverse rods on the front drive axle unless the suspension was air ride or if it had a vendor axle/suspension. I think a 34K suspension has no transverse rod, 38K and up will have a rod between the rear differential and the frame. Does this truck have a Mack camelback suspension or is it Hendrickson?
  8. Randy, I don't remember if it was the Mack PDC/Training center or the dealership in Dallas, but a few years back they had ALL of the tires stolen off of one of the new trucks one night. The truck was found the next morning sitting flat on the ground. The sneaky SOB's figured out a way to get all the tires and wheels off without leaving behind any jacks or blocks.
  9. Yes. It has Meritor rear differentials. As far as I know the only way to get tri-drive is with vendor axles, that may be different now though.
  10. fjh probably sees more of these modified trucks and might be able to shed some more light on this, but from what I hear the Mack modification center takes too long to turn these things out. This one was nicely done. All of the switches and levers on the truck are marked to indicate what they do, the cab had the higher level interior package, the steering wheel spokes are bright polish chrome (don't know if that's aftermarket or not but it looked pretty decent). All in all I'd say Nortrux did a better job than a lot of the body builders that I've seen.
  11. I didn't get much chance to mess with it, and there's so much stuff bolted on the outside it's hard to tell if the frame was extended or if it was ordered with a lot of extra frame hanging over the end. This one was done by Nortrux in Canada, not at the Mack modification center, so the chassis records don't really show any of the really good stuff that was added on after it left the factory. The chassis record says 265" wheel base on the frame arrangement, so I know it was either extended or the rear suspension was moved back. The boom hanging out front coupled with the long wheelbase is hard to get used to, have to watch out that you don't inadvertently ram it into stationary objects!
  12. Sounds like you may be lacking for clean air going into the engine. Check the air cleaner for restrictions and the charge air cooler and piping for holes.
  13. I think they use it for some type of continuous rod drilling operation, whatever that is. I just try to work on 'em, I'd get all flabbergasted if I tried to figure out what they actually did with 'em!
  14. I'm not sure Mark. I could only get the truck pulled into the shop far enough for the front drive axle to clear the rear door (any further and I would have "perforated" the sheet rock to the office wall). The truck is longer than most (maybe all) of the twin steer concrete pumper I've ever seen. It has the Hendrickson Primaxx rear suspension, so whatever the axle spacing on that is plus probably double that for the spacing between the front steer axles and probably at least another 120" between the rear steer axle and the front drive axle. slpwlkr is probably in the ball park. All I know is that it is one longer mother and it takes some wide circles to turn it around.
  15. Yeah, what Hatcity said!
  16. Hey Bob, try working on one. An experience I'm sure you would regret (I do just about every time I have to)!
  17. Had this one near the shop (it's just about too long to fit inside). Quite a piece of work.
  18. I saw this earlier at work. Wilson also owns the first volvo built domestically, the F7 cabover pictured with the new VN. I think both are surprisingly decent looking trucks, all things considered...
  19. I really enjoy seeing those old ads. They just have something that ads today seem to be lacking. It's kind of surprising that Mack hasn't released more of these as full color posters, good thing we still have guys like HeavyHauler adapting these pieces and keeping them available for all of us.
  20. Speaking of Freightliners, where is Double L anyways? Hatcity, you heard any tales from training school?
  21. How-dee, welcome aboard, and pleased to meet you! As Hatcity said, thanks for your service.
  22. DM690S built 9.9.94 E7 300 1991 emissions, T2070 transmission, CRDPC92/93 5.73 ratio, SS440C rear suspension.
  23. Hey 3P, is Ames Const. still buying trucks? I heard awhile back they were supposed to be ordering a new Titan.
