  1. Pricing will be a lot less then having to do syncros on a Mack Trans.

If you have a guy that knows what he is doing, he will pull the Aux box (rear housing) of the transmission that holds the syncro pins and collar while still on the truck.

it can be rebuilt and reinstalled fairly easily after dropping the driveshaft etc.

In Mack's case you would have to pull the entire trans, then pull the rear gearcase, then replace the syncro clutch pack......blah blah....

Saves a ton on labour and the parts are about 2/3rds of what Macks are.

I appreciate the info. I know gears grinding is never a good thing, but can it harm anything else in the trans if it doesn't get fixed or can I drive it until it has to be repaired?. I drover the truck again the other day and it only done it once out of several tries.

  2. Hello and welcome, I've been searching craigslist for a Mack dump and there are a ton of RD and DM roll offs available. I use searchtempest.com, you eneter your zip and search radius to find your item, also its best to use direct results mode, you'll miss out on a truck the other way. I agree with the others, a fresh paint job when you know there are repairs needed on the truck is a big red flag. Good luck!

  3. I agree with you guys 100% about the interior. I cant stand for for any of my cabs to stay dirty, I know they'll get dirty but not for long with me. Bought a cordless dewalt vacumm just for the job of cabs for my equipment and truck. It's just hard to find a good truck these days.....I may have to be more open to a tri axle. Any leads are greatlly appreciated!

  4. I haven't looked at the truck just yet, got pic's and a little info. It's about 4 hours away, held up when I learned about the frame. I'll have to ask him how thick it is.

I'm looking for a truck to use in my excavation business. It could be used for anything, but more than likely a lot of on site stuff, maybe some demo, hauling top soil and chert etc. Need a good all purpose truck. I'm not opposed to an tri- axle, just trying to keep opperating and expense cost down.

  5. If you were strictly running on hard, level, paved roads-not much of a problem.

As soon as you go off the road, the twisting will break it. Not to mention slightly of level dumping

Thank you sir! Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Having a hard time finding something ready to work around here. Where's a good place to look other than craigslist and truckpaper or the other know equipment sights?

  6. Good Morning everyone! I've been looking for a good tandem dump truck and found a '02 CH613 for sale. It's more than likely been converted and doesn't have a double frame. It's got a 15' bed, the guy said it'll haul about 16 yd and camelback suspension. My question is, should I be shy of it not having a double frame? Every thing else checks out. This will be my first dump truck so I'm not that familar with them. Thanks!

  7. Thanks for the replys! After the brain storm here, I'm not sure they'll work, on the legal side anyway. As dual tire's they are rated at 4805 LBS each and that puts me at 38,400 (19.22 TON) with 8 of them for a 35 TON lowboy. My dozer alone weighs that. Humm.
