Thanks for all the feed back! Went with the Spectra Precision LL300-2 Laser Level Package.
And here's where I found the best price. http://expresstools.com/SPECTRA-LL300-2-laser-level-package-case-rod-clamp-rod-and-aluminum-tripod.aspx

This reminds me of when I first started operating, the guy I worked with used a jug of water and long clear hose to level with. It worked to say the least...We just look for a large pond with still water and check to see if the water is level.

Ok, here's what I come up with, I've narrowed it down to two.
Tell me what you think.

Thanks randyp, I've read good veviews on Bosch. Do you have to have your calibrated often? I'm not planning on playing football with it or anything...My favorite self leveler is Bosch. I use it pretty regular on house pads and such, and its never had a down moment. Its good on batteries too. You can get a package deal (stick, tripod, and all) for bout around 7 or 8 hundred. randyp

Hello everyone, it's been a while. I hope all is well. I'm in the market for a new Self-Leveling Rotary Laser and I was hoping someone could give me some tips on brands etc. I'm in excavation so I'll be using it out doors for shooting grades mainly. As always your help is appreciated!

Price? Year? percentage of track left? randyp
Hello Randy, I'm asking $6500 the way it sits. I'm on the look for track adjusters now and that cost will be added if I find them before someone purchases it. I'm not sure about the year, it has the direction reverser (allows you to go grom Foward to reverse without clutching) so I'm thinking it's probably later 70's. The tracks are in great shape, I'll guess they are at least 80%.

Thanks Mack. No kiddn' lol... I just loaded the dozer and was headed home. Give me a new appreciation for power steering. I felt every dimple in the road threw the steering wheel and those winding roads were hell.

Hello everyone, I've got a 350BE with a winch and 6 way blade for sale if anyone is interested. It runs and operates great. Just replaced several worn hyd. hoses. The only thing I know that it needs, other than a new home, would be the track adjusters. I'll post some pics soon. Very straight metal and hour meter reads 1070, could use some paint if you like em shiny. Let me know if your interested.

Whats up everyone. Got a easy question for anyone. Had a steering hose blow today and need to know what fluid to put back in. Not for sure what it had in it since it all ended up on the street. Thanks!

Read my lips,,,,AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!! randyp
YES! And heat! And not sucking dust and spittn' mud. I'll leave that up to the guy I hire on the dozer. If things go good I hope to have a cab dozer one of these days too.. I've always liked the open feel, but the older I get the better that cab looks!

Thats the machine I'm favoring. I've talked with a local guy who has a 200 and wished he'd went wtih a 160. Said he thought it would be easier to get around. My first job with it will be about 50 ac's of stumps and slash. I would love to get a Wood / Stump Shear one day, but they are recomended for machines 50k plus. I think the 200 would just barely fit on my 35TN Fontaine detach without sticking past the rear, but the 160 wouldn't be any problem at all. I'm torn........

Thanks for the tips. Just trying to get my mind in excavator gear before shopping and dealing. Tossing around the idea of a Komatsu or Deere 160 or 200. I'll use it for land clearing/stumps, demolition and ponds/lakes. I'm having to turn away to much work not being equiped and I'll probably be hiring an operator, all things I didn't have intentions of ever doing. But hey it's a good thing, right?

Looking to add and excavator to my arsenal, but not very familiar with them. I've always been a dozer man. Interested in the 40,000k range, 160's. Would really appreciate some tips on what to look out for when buying a used excavator.

Rob, After teaching my 5 year old how to tie her shoes, I can now tell you that there is more than one way to tie your shoes. Very creative monster.
I hate to wake a sleeping dog, but got to hearing a leak behind the dash today and found this sensor leaking. Its above the gas pedel and the one to the far left with bubbles coming out of it.
Both of these are for the low air buzzer/light. $8.00 ea.

If I gotta ask a sleazy politician for help, I'll just go drive a dump truck for a living.
I agree with your feelings toward politicians, but being in business for myself (with no gov. help or bailouts), I'll have to say with what your wanting to do, I think you'll make more money driving a dump truck. Thats a good honest living for sure!
How to clean a rusty tank?
in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Posted
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
Looking for some good tips on the best way to clean a rusty hydraulic tank. I've been watching video's of people putting small pebbles/sand in the tank and strapping them to tractor wheel that's up off the ground. Put the tractor in gear and letting the pebbles polish the inside of the tank. Some of them are quite funny, but seems to work?
