  1. Would Baldwin be a better choice then the Fram? Dont want to start another filter brand war but would just like to know what common brand people are using?
  2. You make a valid point. I wonder what year production was stopped on the Mack OEM filter?
  3. Does anyone still have a surplus of the Mack oil filters for the B series? Mack# 236GB311A My local dealer has a Fram# C206 in stock and I have also located Baldwin P706M. Just curious if anyone still stocks the OEM Mack filter. Thanks -Jeremy
  4. Well keep us updated and take lots of photo's once you get it opened up!
  5. Do you think the truck was abused at some point or what do you think contributed to the accelerated wear of the lower end? I asked in another thread how long a thermodyne should last and got the impression that they should last nearly forever if taken care of properly. Obviously they will wear out eventually but your engine seems pretty young yet. I would be curious to know what was all done on the last overhaul and what brand components were used? -Jeremy
  6. How many miles are on this engine?
  7. Don't want to hijack your thread but quick question... Can main bearings be done without removing crankshaft? -Jeremy
  8. That would be a fun little truck with a cummins 4bt under the hood!
  9. The floor needs attention but thats an easy fix as I have located a couple donor cabs with nice floors. This one has a quadbox, Im still honing my shifting skills with it.
  10. Yea it was listed a couple times. I was surprised no one had bought it sooner. It has the good 673t engine, power steering, added front brakes, etc. Its hard to find a good unmolested B in the Midwest. Most I looked at had been altered with engine swaps, frames cobbled, repaired, and modified. This one seems to be a decent numbers matching original.
  11. I havent seen any pics myself but would guess its mostly home built. You could fab up a square body then somehow use a pair of modified front fenders for the rears providing your a single axle. I would envision a box similar to that on a Dodge powerwagon.
  12. This truck was a road tractor but the fifth wheel plate was removed. The bed was on there when I purchased the truck. I had originally planned on removing it and putting a plate back on but think I'll probably leave it as is.
  13. Hello All, I have had my truck for one week as of today, had it hauled from WI to MN. Its a 1964 B61 ST with the 673T engine. Here are a few pictures that the PO took of the truck. I will have to take some more now that its home. I plan to start changing all of the fluids and then go from there. -Jeremy

  16. My truck has the smooth ones. I also have the other style in my stack of parts.
  17. My 673 turbo shows 300K+ miles, assuming these are original. The engine runs absolutly perfect, great oil pressure both cold and warm. Slight blue haze of smoke on cold startup but clears once up to operating temp. I belive this truck has had a pretty easy life.
  18. Nice looking tractor, I alway prefer the looks of a wide front over a NF. Its nice to see it still wears the original patina. I hope to someday have a Super C in this similar condition. Good luck with the sale!
  19. Thats all great information. I was just curious in general.
  20. Does anyone know how many miles/hours a Thermodyne diesel would last before needing an overhaul? Did the factory have a TBO for these engines?
  21. Welcome to this great forum, can't wait to see some pics!!
  22. Would like to know if anyone has ever taken a b cab apart for rust repair. Removed the roof via drilling spot welds and such.I would like to see pictures if anyone has them?

  23. I would like to remove the paint from the shutters on my B61. What is the best way to do this? I have read about soda blasting aluminum but not sure of anyone in my area that does this. Has anyone ever used the aircraft stripper? Would this be the way to go? Thanks in advance! Jeremy
