  1. yah kind of thought that. any idea on how that rod comes out?
  2. hey gang. ok in the process of replacing my rear trunnion bushings on one side. they are a 31/2 in brass bushings. one inner and one outer per side. bushings came out pretty good according to the mechanic, they were in rough shape. BUT there is some wear on the shaft for the inner bushing, the outer one is nice and snug, but the inner along the bottom of the tube is worn. dont know how much, but would like to know the procedure for replacing the tube or maybe a repair?? thanks
  3. ok. some bad news about my shaft. got my bushings for the rear camelback and i was told my trunnion shaft is worn. now can these be repaired? i will get it replaced, but can someone tell me what i need to do to replace the shaft alone. the hanger is good.
  4. thanks for the pdf on the kingpins. helps alot. any more info on r and r trunnion bushings? thanks
  5. hey gang. about to replace the front king pins on my mr 688s and also my rear bushings. the kingpins look like they have a cotter pin at the bottom. any advice on doing these jobs. i have the tools just not to experienced in these two jobs. any tips on replacing the rear trunion bushings would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  6. thanks rob. the guy says this one is a 215hp dt 466 engine. any comment on those?
  7. hey gang. i am looking at buying a 2002 ih 4300 roll off truck. it has a dt 466 engine and an allison 6 speed auto trans. any issues or common problems with these trucks? thanks
  8. i found the easiest to get these stubborn pins out is cut or grind each end of the pin flush with the nut. then loosen the nut it should thread out passed the pin. makes it a little easier. then tap or drill it out. should come out easy.
  9. i think i hear you lol. i also noticed that when my gov kicks out my green needle indicates about 10lbs of air less than my red needle.
  10. when i apply my brakes my green needle shows that i loose quite a bit of air, but my red needle barely moves. i cant hear any leaks and it seems my brakes and everything seems ok. do you think bad governor or just contanimated lines? i must say this is on my international truck and not my mack. thanks
  11. thanks guys. yah started to realize my problem is in the front. i had the tie rods changed next is my kingpins and front spring inspection. let you know how it goes. got to hunt down some help and get those pins changed. thanks again makes me feel a little better. the truck i am talking about is my avatar pic.
  12. well got my trunnion bushings today and my kingpin set. now just to get these installed. did another road test today just to make sure i know my problem. this is what it feels like. at around 30- 40 mph the truck begins to wiggle side to side. just like if someone is pushing on the front bumper from left to right, NOT up and down. i kind of think my front kingpins maybe worn as my front seems to hit the potholes pretty hard. dont see any spring breakage, but i may also change the front spring pins. i think its more of a front problem. what you guys think.
  13. well changed out a tire that i thought was bad. it didnt look too bad. but i had a chance to see how much movement there is in the trunnion bushing when the tire man jacked her up. never measured it, but it did seem like the trunnion moved a fair bit befor the truck began to move. i guess i am off to the bushing store. i will post what i find. it might be a few days.
  14. easier on the roads. you will probably have to use spacers on the rim so that when you turn your front wheels they dont hit your components. had a set of 425 65r 22 installed on my 688s needed spacers.
  15. thanks guys. gonna take a closer look and will post findings. i am thinking maybe my wobble/wiggle problem could also be bad kingpins. anybody have a wobble or truck wiggle and find that you had bad kingpins. the wobble feels like as if your driving over pot holes on one side.
  16. yah i have been hunting this for a while. the thing is i dont operate very much at this time because i have another older truck that i am using quite a bit. the mack is my newer truck. i will get under neath and take a peak. my caps do have grease nipples so i take it that there brass. how does one adjust these. i replaced the insulator top and bottom pads on the bad side and a broken leaf on the opposite side. retorque and checked the transverse rod. seems ok. what i have is slight walking on one side front rear axle. i get a truck wobble around 30-40 mph. it seems to smooth out as i increase my speed. if i go downhill and dont give it any throttle truck starts to wobble. thanks for your expertise.
  17. thanks. it is a mack camelback suspension. i believe 10 leafs. where does a person place jacks to check trunion bushing wear?
  18. thanks. is there a way to tell if my rears are 38k by looking? just noticed on my bill of sale that states 44,000lb rear end and 20,000 lb front. so i guess i should have a transverse rod on the 2nd axle also. anybody have an idea where i can get a transverse rod kit if available. thanks again
  19. my 96 mack mr cabover has a wobble issue at around 40 mph. when i increase the throttle it seems to smooth out. i just noticed that my mack has only one transverse rod.(from axle to frame) it is on the rear axle. my question is shouldnt there be one for the front tandem axle? my international has 2 rods. i am thinking maybe thats why i have a wobble. i was told that i can add one to the front axle. does anybody have info on this or a kit. would a worn trunion bushing cause a wobble? thanks gang.
  20. thanks guys. i found one set not opposite each other. think i will give it a try.
  21. yah kind of thought so. do you think it could create a vibration or wobble?
  22. just wandering if anybody can identify with this. is it true that your valve stems should be placed 180 degrees apart? i was told that it could cause a wobble if they are not opposite each other.
  23. i hear you. yah i do have a leak at my rear wheel that is in the process of getting to a shop to get it fixed. just really couldnt understand why oil would come out of the vent also? anyways i try to keep these vents clean. thanks for the info guys. great site.
