  1. yes will do both.
  2. thanks. i took a quick peek at my other truck(not a mack) and that also has only one wedge. so i guess its a caster thing. anyways my driver side is about 1 inch lower than my pass side. they are tapered front springs. think i am gonna replace the whole spring pack on the driver side. thanks again
  3. should there be one per side or just one on either side? i noticed my mr 688s has only on the driver side. is this correct? thanks
  4. yes there is a wedge between the spring and axle BUT ONLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE. do you think that is correct? i did notice my driver side is about an inch lower than my pass side. think i got a weak spring pack. i actually believe the previous owner replaced the pass side spring and not the driver side. Maybe he did not put the wedge back in on the passenger side?????i i am gonna install one on the pass side and see what happens. should not be too difficult. thanks
  5. thanks. i did notice that my front driver side is a bit lower than my pass side. does not look like a broken spring. is there a way to raise the one side without replacing the whole spring pack? never thought of the steering pump or filter? how would you check for a bad pump? where would the filter be located? thanks again.
  6. no barely a inch. never had 14 inches of snow all year!
  7. recently replaced the front spring stops on my 96 mack mr. i have been tracking down a wobble issue ive had for some time. (wobble would occur aroun 35-40 then dissappear) i had alot of work done on my truck. everything from replaced drums, ujoints, insulator pads, trunnion bushings, tie rods, broken spring, tire balance, retorque or replaced frame bolts. and a few other things as well. came down to replace the front spring bump stops. now things really began to make a difference for the good. the wobble is about 99% gone, the front rubbers were worn out driver side more than the passenger, but replacing them did the most in curing my problem what i notice now is the truck runs great unloaded, but if a have a load on, the wobble seems to want to come back. (NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS BEFORE). my question is do you think i have weak front springs or rear? thanks i am gonna get this one way or the other.
  8. welcome to the site. i too am from saskatchewan. no snow in south east saskatchewan at all. go riders.
  9. i think your correct mack4ever. spoke to a service man at parker today and he said the same thing. oh well never removed one i guess it will be a learning experience. thanks guys
  10. thanks. it is electric operated. dont know if the pressure switch has anything to do with it. i also replaced the solenoid approx 1 year ago. (the little elec valve that allows tran fluid to the pto to engage i guess?)
  11. this is on my other truck. its on a international with a 5 speed allison auto. last friday i could here a clinging sound with the pto disengaged. what seems to be happening is my pto is not disengaging fully. does anybody know if there is something else that could cause the pto not to fully disengage. what does the pressure switch on the pto do? its got 2 little slip on connectors and is threaded into te pto. just want to make sure there is nothing else to check before i pull the pto. thanks
  12. check www.truckcomponentsonline.com they have diagrams . it will show you your model and whats inside. washers, adjust collars etc... hope this helps.
  13. nah just gonna heat up the rubbers. may as well have a steak or two also/
  14. thanks guys. time to fire up the bbq.
  15. gonna replace the rubber bump stops that sit above the top plate on the front springs. this is on an mr 688s truck. one rubber looks a little weak. any tips on doing this? doesnt really look like too tough of a job. thanks
  16. replace the sending unit. testing the unit by bypassing it will turn on your warning lite. that is what it should do. try a new sending unit.
  17. yes thanks. as soon as the parts arrive.
  18. thanks guys. a rare failure indeed! well it was the last thing i could check external wise and i lucked out. when it went down it was the strangest thing. no hints or strange noises but when i look back it did seem to shift from 1st to drive rather quickly. anyways so far so good. ordered 2 of these valves today got to keep one in the cab. 85.00 dollars each.
  19. update. no tranny needed!!! did the mod test. basically bypassed the mod valve by plugging the air line and the mod valve. truck went into reverse and did not die in drive. i did not realize that an air operated foot controller would have a pneumatic mod valve. all my backups.alram, camera came back. gonna order two of those pneumatic modulator valves and keep one in the cab. maybe some others with air operated foot throttles had the same issues and got taken to buy a new tranny. check those pneumatic mod valves if your tranny is acting up. phew i came very close to buying a trans. dam drink is gonna taste fine. thanks guys.
  20. thanks. buddy.
  21. thanks for replying!! yes non electrical. checked the linkage all is good there. gonna check my mod valve. the truck has an air operated throttle control and just found out the modulator valve is a pneumatic type. mech told me to plug the hose end and plug the mod valve. start truck and see what happens. hopefully the valve. also the trans fluid is clean no smell at all.
  22. relays did nothing. off to the tranny store. got a couple quotes. approx 8500.00 for a reman. holy sheeeeeaaaaaat.
  23. yah she is a tough one. i replaced the 2 relays and it didnt help. i took off the linkage to make sure everything was good and it all checked out. i even shifted it by hand at the trans and still nothing. one mechanic told me the torque converter is locked up, i guess a nice way of saying shes F*cked. anyone have a ht740rs for sale?
