  1. my front drive axle on the driver side seems to be in about an inch more than the rear. the mechanic changed the pads, but i dont think the mechanic changed the stabilizer blocks. i think that should help out the alignment. what do you think?
  2. has anybody added a transverse torque rod to their front drive axle. macks have just one on the rear drive axle, and i would like to add one to the front drive axle. anybody know where i can get a complete rod with axle bracket?
  3. how would you go about checking the power divider?
  4. well took the truck for a ride and about 90% of my wobble issue is fixed. i was told that my king pins need replacing and that should tighten things rite up. just thought i would post what was done. replaced bushings on one side rear. my inner bushing needed to be a larger id. now see what happens when my kings are replaced.
  5. i will do that. thanks
  6. i am going thru the same thing as you. mine occurs around 35-45 mph. mine is wobble from left to right. had u joints replaced, tie rods, torque tube etc.... i am getting a trunnion rebush job done. the bushings were shot. also i am getting my front king pins replaced after my bushings are done. one other thing you can check is your front spring hangers. when i took it in for a rebush i also noticed at that time some of my front spring hanger bolts are loose. mechanic is gonna torque everything back up after the rear trunion bushings are done. i wll let you know how things turn out when i get my girl back. good luck with yours.
  7. thanks. i never got a chance to see the old bushings, but i was told they were in rough shape. the saddle itself looks like it might be ok. i was thinking about using a sleeve to slip over the tube and then put in new bushings. like a speedy sleeve. i happen to have a piece of tubing that fits nicely over the tube to take up the slack on the inside of the bushing.
  8. by saddles do you mean the bushing housing? so installing a set of bushings with a smaller id is sort of an idea??
  9. thanks gang. i drove down and took a look at it today expecting to see that flat spot. dam it really didnt look all bad. there is some play when you slide on the new bushing, but how snug should it really be. i thought why not have a bushing machined with the id a tad smaller and the od the same??? what you think
  10. yah kind of thought that. any idea on how that rod comes out?
  11. hey gang. ok in the process of replacing my rear trunnion bushings on one side. they are a 31/2 in brass bushings. one inner and one outer per side. bushings came out pretty good according to the mechanic, they were in rough shape. BUT there is some wear on the shaft for the inner bushing, the outer one is nice and snug, but the inner along the bottom of the tube is worn. dont know how much, but would like to know the procedure for replacing the tube or maybe a repair?? thanks
  12. ok. some bad news about my shaft. got my bushings for the rear camelback and i was told my trunnion shaft is worn. now can these be repaired? i will get it replaced, but can someone tell me what i need to do to replace the shaft alone. the hanger is good.
  13. thanks for the pdf on the kingpins. helps alot. any more info on r and r trunnion bushings? thanks
  14. thanks guys. can always count on you guys. hopefully i can get her this week.
  15. hey gang. about to replace the front king pins on my mr 688s and also my rear bushings. the kingpins look like they have a cotter pin at the bottom. any advice on doing these jobs. i have the tools just not to experienced in these two jobs. any tips on replacing the rear trunion bushings would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  16. thanks rob. the guy says this one is a 215hp dt 466 engine. any comment on those?
  17. hey gang. i am looking at buying a 2002 ih 4300 roll off truck. it has a dt 466 engine and an allison 6 speed auto trans. any issues or common problems with these trucks? thanks
  18. i found the easiest to get these stubborn pins out is cut or grind each end of the pin flush with the nut. then loosen the nut it should thread out passed the pin. makes it a little easier. then tap or drill it out. should come out easy.
  19. i think i hear you lol. i also noticed that when my gov kicks out my green needle indicates about 10lbs of air less than my red needle.
  20. when i apply my brakes my green needle shows that i loose quite a bit of air, but my red needle barely moves. i cant hear any leaks and it seems my brakes and everything seems ok. do you think bad governor or just contanimated lines? i must say this is on my international truck and not my mack. thanks
  21. thanks guys. yah started to realize my problem is in the front. i had the tie rods changed next is my kingpins and front spring inspection. let you know how it goes. got to hunt down some help and get those pins changed. thanks again makes me feel a little better. the truck i am talking about is my avatar pic.
  22. well got my trunnion bushings today and my kingpin set. now just to get these installed. did another road test today just to make sure i know my problem. this is what it feels like. at around 30- 40 mph the truck begins to wiggle side to side. just like if someone is pushing on the front bumper from left to right, NOT up and down. i kind of think my front kingpins maybe worn as my front seems to hit the potholes pretty hard. dont see any spring breakage, but i may also change the front spring pins. i think its more of a front problem. what you guys think.
  23. well changed out a tire that i thought was bad. it didnt look too bad. but i had a chance to see how much movement there is in the trunnion bushing when the tire man jacked her up. never measured it, but it did seem like the trunnion moved a fair bit befor the truck began to move. i guess i am off to the bushing store. i will post what i find. it might be a few days.
  24. easier on the roads. you will probably have to use spacers on the rim so that when you turn your front wheels they dont hit your components. had a set of 425 65r 22 installed on my 688s needed spacers.
