Neil Oliver's observations of Britain are eerily similar to what is happening here in Canada and the USA. It may be a familiar scenario in other western nations including Australia, Germany, Holland and New Zealand as well among others. I had long said that the REAL purpose for the formation of the UN was that the powers that be realized that world domination can never be achieved through military might. It has been tried many times in history and always failed. However, world domination CAN be achieved through politics and we are getting ever closer to this achievement being fully realized. I doubt that low sulphur diesel had anything to do with the failure. In fact, these old engines may even be MORE capable of running ULSD than the new ones without an additive. Sulphur acted as a lubricant so removing it made the fuel "dry". The tolerances in the fuel system of a new style engine are MUCH tighter than the old Mechanical engines and run a MUCH higher fuel pressure. I would think that the higher pressures and tighter tolerances in todays fuel systems would suffer from lowered lubrication in the fuel more so than the old, low pressure, wide tolerance fuel systems. My preferred fuel additive is 2 stroke motor oil. It is a lubricant that is designed to burn. Anyways, that is my opinion, subject to change without notice pending compelling argument to the contrary.

It actually cataract surgery. They remove the natural lense and replace it with an artificial one. I do not have cataracts but wanted to see clearly without glasses. Not only can I see but now, I never WILL get cataracts. 1000 years from now, if someone digs me up the will find a skeleton with two plastic discs in the eye sockets.

Saw the surgeon yesterday. Everything is coming along well. Two more weeks in the splint then 6 weeks of rehab to regain strength. Told him I plan to be snowmobiling by mid Jan and he said that should be doable. He is confident that I will get the feeling back in my finger in about year and a half. Since I am on the injured list and can' t do much, I decided now would be a good time get my eyes fixed (fix everything while I am in the shop for repairs anyways) so while in the city to see the surgeon, I had refractive lense replacement surgery done so I can ditch those annoying bi-focals. No more glasses for this cowboy. My post op testing (done the day after the surgery) showed 20/20 vision close up and intermediate and better than 20/20 for distance. Truly amazing.

When I bought the 2 local ones (in December) the guy had to July to get them out of the shed. he was a hoarder and accessing them was no easy feat as not only did he have to clean the shed but had to make a trail through the yard for about 100 yards to get them out. Loading and transporting was simple as I had the trailer and just pulled the trucks onto the trailer with my picker. Hmmmm, can't post pics, getting error code 200

Excellent point. The 2 B61's mentioned in my previous post were 1/2 hour from home and I factored that into my offer. In hind site I should have bought the "lesser" truck for the $2000 and left the "good" one where it was.

I understand what you are saying and somewhat agree. However, the exception is when the unit turns out to not be what you thought it was. I bought 2 B61’s from a guy that were in a crowded shed. I paid 2000 for one and 5000 for the other based on what I could see. Thought the one was really nice. Turned out the 2000 one was twice the truck the other was. The one that looked nice was full of bondo and was pretty much a wreck once I took all the makeup off. Fixing it anyways just a LOT more work and money.

Thanks. The carbs are Rochester 2GC (centre)and 2G's outboard. The 348 is factory (1959) and the SBC is an Edelbrock intake with Rochester carbs from a factory Pontiac 389 Tri-Power. The carbs on the 348 are all the smaller 2G's and the Pontiac carbs have the small 2GC in the entire and the large 2G's outboard. Both are set up with progressive linkage.

Agreed. I am a fan of 3X2's. Have one on the wife Model A (327 SBC) and another to go in my '57 Chevy truck (348 3X2). The truck can be seen behind the car, sort of but here is a better pic and this is the engine when I WAS going to put it in the wife car but decided it was physically too big Had one on my '57 chevy back in the '80's also.

It can't be all that difficult to knock the guts out of an OB can and convert it to dry filter as long as a filter is available that fits. A bit small would be manageable, too big would be a deal breaker though. To me, it is like Model A ford guys converting their cars to 12 volt. I see nothing wrong with 6 volt, in fact, it adds to the experience. Converting from OB to dry would have no affect on "the experience" of driving the B61 (that I can think of) but am not sure I understand the desire (unless, of course the engine is sucking the oil out of the filter). I have read in the past that OB filter do a better job of filtering than dry paper filters. I do not know if there is any validity to that or not but is moot in my case as I will not be driving in extreme (or even minor) dusty conditions anyways.

Not speaking for Vlad but if I was in his situation, I would be hesitant to engage people from over here with all the anti Russian BS that has been thrown around in the media and on social media. Yeah, I know absolutely nothing about the Russia/Ukraine conflict either. If I wanted to have a pretty good idea what the truth is over there I would watch what the media is reporting and assume the exact opposite. That would get me pretty close to the truth but still leave some room for some wrong headed thinking so I just stay away from the whole sordid affair. I would rather be ignorant than wrong.

Back in the early 80's there was a few guys that would drag race their street cars on a stretch of highway 36. One had a HEMI 4speed super bird and he would race a buddy of mine that had a '67 CAMARO with a 427 TH400. The Camaro would take th super bird off the line every time by about a length and each time Dale would shift the bird he would gain but never could make up the full length in the 1/4. That guy could shift.

Very few, if any used on hot rods in at least the last 20-30 years were actually Jimmy blowers. There are a few outfits that make them (Weiand is a quite popular example) specific for hotrods with the manifold, dives etc and they can be had, ready to bolt on and go for less than what it would take to get one from a 6-71 and make it work. Of course, the original hotrodders to use them started with a Jimmy blower and made it work. They do look cool and sound even cooler.

Lots of guys run them on small block Chevies (and of course big block Chevies) but they are not quite a "bolt on". They require a specific intake manifold or adapter to accept the blower.

I had a '64 short fleet similar to that red '65 except 4X4. mine also had the big back window. Sold it a few years ago. If it was 2WD I might have kept it.

Ok, so I came here to add an update and found a reply that I failed to send DOH! Anyways, went to rehab the other day and got a new splint and some passive ezcercises to do. Still a nuisance but coming along. Should be playing the piano in no time which would be cool since I couldn’t play one before.

That is my goal, for others to learn from my mistakes. That is why, as embarrassing as it is to admit what I was doing, I wanted all to understand . I can accept what happened. It is what it is but if I can help others avoid something similar (or worse) it makes the embarrassment of showing the world what a dumbass I can be worth it.
