  1. any pictures of engine so we are all on "same page " in responses
  2. if you have to wait 20 +- seconds before trans will go into gear without grinding; i would look at the possibility the clutch brake ( if a single disc has one) isn't working. looking up from bottom on trans bellhousing through the 3x4 opening, the pilot shaft might have a 3 piece tiny clutch assembly known as a clutch brake. later versions were a one piece unit. a 3 piece consist of two fiber disc and one center steel plate. the steel plate usually shears off the two tabs connecting it to pilot shaft. on the bottom of trans bell housing is there an adjustable (3/4or 7/8???threaded stud sticking out????
  3. another post a while back showed removal of the small 90 degree brackets by mounting bolts. can't remember reason. if that gave additional adjustment .
  4. getting weak meaning it's slipping under load? the CL28 isn't a good reference to me ; many others on here can translate that number to a single or double disc. i would think it's a mack clutch not spicer or other brand. possibly lipe
  5. wish i spent more time yrs ago thinking more rubber to worry about !!! i'd be single still and NO i'm not your daddy.😁
  6. seems to me a challenge to take a tandem dump body and mount it to a single axle;; might be a little over hang.
  7. ones green other is red ;;; put some lights on both and your all set for Christmas in the Neiborhood. then with a cup of coffee (or other) sit and stare at both while you ponder the situation.
  8. that style brake chamber has a o-ring/ seal with a felt wiper inside. when the brakes start acting up first check is the small 5/8th dia vent on mounting face of can. tiny small holes clog faster than ---- fill in the blank
  9. seems like temptation never quits LOL . now that's close by.
  10. Not a maxi can ;; old style brake chamber only unit has a hand brake correct. looks like a drum up on drive line by trans. that style can has a ring of screw driver style bolts around it 6-maybe 8. use to be rebuildable . some B 's had a maxi with 1/2 in rod going to brakes . chamber was mounted in the frame
  11. what part of Mass;; Im in CT .
  12. standard single axle set up . don't think qualifies as camel -back .
  13. when the air assist starts acting up like not so smooth , the cyl on tie rod usually develops a groove mid way. wedge brakes are like everything else;; great when working right: real pain in a-- when time for repair/ replace. have changed a couple from wedge to cam. most times owner was better off finding another donor. swapping entire assemblies.
  14. now if they were B models ; the only wires in the frame rails that could /would short out would be for the TWO tail lights. first seeing a western that had low level sensors for the rear ends was really some thing back then.
  15. did it again guess;; went off topic. JOJO , how long did it take to figure that reply' i'm all out of likes again. i keep reading the reply : you know i can't afford alot of laughter , start coughing. this case it's worth it. wife thinks i m insane (still).
  16. NOW HOW DID YOU GET PERMISSION TO TAKE MY WIFE'S PLACE AND BREAK MY BA-LS lol😂
  17. I don't think the highly respected and HONORED WWII veterans can understand this post AND THEY WERE CODE TALKERS . just sayin
  18. any positive updates ;; new donor or did time allow for removal of second head? be interesting to see how active the rodents were
  19. you are kidding ! right.an ABS light (system issue) will derate an engine? that abs crap FIRST came out == yes i was there then also.LOL no one knew the system and drivers didn't like seeing the light so tape was put over it. the engine still ran as expected. what happens if a driver farts in the cab;; does the computer sense excess gas in cab area and derate engine !!
  20. Oh ; the benefits of 1/25 scale= no computers or government involvement . the wiring and air/ hyd lines are a challenge at times. LOL
  21. it's here now. most won't know what a paper log book is ; scanners on the highway tell weight stations everything (almost) they want to know of a vehicle as it passes under . how many post here ask "is the system on delete? I don't have a clue regard to delete. bet you don't remember when computers first came around to change truck engine hp with a few buttons!!
  22. so it's cats vs dogs like blue vs grey or army vs navy. may the best man win😁
  23. pictures sure help in proper suggestions. that far back ;; i go with MACKS recommendations. between cab and rears is a little different . don't think it's that bad to use a loader down pressure. challenge is when that much hammering is done , you don't know how much is on the sides between two rails that will flake and stay.
  24. another angle to be considered is a tank without a vent (or2) would not only create a vacuum in the suction tank ;;like those ridicules new style fuel cans ; but with out a vent (or2) the returning unused fuel from an engine which is very warm would create pressure in the return tank and bottle neck an engine,or in days of ole when running a cummins with restricted fuel return :: horsepower increased😃LOL if you didn't have access to a different fuel button.
  25. any info on this unit:: dump truck/ tractor: daily runner ? separation over rears ; between rears /cab? only reason for asking is for figuring proper repair. I wouldn't go toooo much with the heat ,wrong area of frame could possibly lead to cracking after. that far a separation on a daily runner may lean toward frame rail replace . depends on your access to tools .
