  1. might not be 5 physically ; can't say the same for mentally. didn't have to change the rest room signs when a 5 yr old pretended either.
  2. You knew it was natural asper;;no turbo == YOU were checking to see how many were paying attention to the pictures LMAO
  3. ever notice most pictures of "future beings/ grays "they all look the same ; no male/ female stuff. like the generation before:: the Beatles and others with long hair were the "end of the world" . NOT defending any one or thing. at my age don't expect to be here to see much more of these changes . some of the "people" walking around in todays world match the creatures shown on star trex/ and other space shows. LOL👹🤡
  4. the Clydesdales also had heated walkin swimming pools . and a cozy ride to Florida every winter in their own custom trailers.
  5. sure glad there was a clarification on the LTL 😁 didn't remember the H having that dash or shifters in that location. last experience with an H was when it was being tow started dead of winter, twin stick duplex . I had the H . short version ; wrecker stopped H ( me) didn't.. no build up of air / hand brake didn't work. let clutch out to stop as wrecker tow bar closed in . aux not in gear. that little bubble on front nose made contact with 2 in steel plate. from then on NO towing with out air in tanks and wrecker tow bar at bumper height.
  6. how fortunate You are to have a member of the younger generation so interested in old iron and history.
  7. good to hear you have a second truck to build (donor ) LOL . a P&W couldn't have been run too hard just age factor.
  8. I'm in watertown CT ;retired. no guarantee I'd be around , appointments now and then but could try to if you need a hand with the move send me a message ::: date/ time.
  9. I noticed the shift:: mono/ uni shift. B61 wrecker waterbury Mack used had the monoshift.
  10. it's like an untouched piece of history. the brass emergency fuel shut off still there : even if it's disconnected. perry water filter , air valve passenger side fire wall was a major discussion a while back ; someone having tractor/ trailer air issue . mice still there and not paying rent = good air compressor and blast them out .LOL
  11. first important question;;; where in CT is all this taking place??😁. technically by taking off the B67 contour cab swapping straight back it will become a B61 (or other). the 67 designation referred to contour cab , made to give more clearance for longer trailers coming into use in the day.
  12. the Mack westerns , whether R L (S)'s or FL's were a rare Dog on the east coast. when one went by you took a double look. east coast was Mack territory ; difference was it was Mack work truck territory. B's, R's ,U's. DM. fleets / construction were the east. as been said before when a "big rig" like Monfort flew through they attracted attention . never many FL's around here then.
  13. look close you can see the two tabs on the cross pipe (one where tyrap is ). those tabs are where the two 1/4 in bolts held the clamps on fuel cross-over line. (number 8 aeroquipt line ) ,some applications the cross bar was bolted to the fuel tank brackets not spring hanger s .as you stated Paul that set up helped support the tank weight ,
  14. probably why wife and I don't sit much together watching TV. she gets up set when i start complaining about things like :::"they are putting air bags in wrong place to lift trailer , too much torque on cable , will break. and the bag blows out and a cable/chain snaps;;all the excitement JUST before a commercial. not being a know-it-all ; just common sense. LOL
  15. the show is interesting and definite yes on the equipment. i just spent toooo much time in the world of reality; NOT the reality shows . just the real world (of mechanics).
  16. wife really gets in to saving the 401 LOL . i can take watching only so much. it's all the drama and hype put in to these shows that take away reality for me. have run a wrecker had a chain break and send a winch cable flying towards the wrecker at high rate of speed. that one i was in a hurry since tractor / trailer had the nose over a concrete barrier over track one . like the lowbed on train crossing I didn't know when train was coming. notice some of the tense moments on the 401 the actual wreck is on a side road. still can't figure why if one lane is open ;; where are the plows??
  17. challenge to see in picture; that style should also be a thread on two 5/8 ? bolts tighten end to tie rod it self. one side left hand thread other right hand. is the bottom of end have the HD (same a sDM's) cotter pin and screw cap ?? not guarantee if I would call those ends rebuildable vs replaceable. left/ right hand threaded ends allow for adjusting the tow in.
  18. now I remember that style injection pump which was discussed in another post couple days ago regards to timing. Robert boash had the 1 1/4 barrel nut.
  19. definitely a johnny cash :: (I got it one piece at a time) build. usually the fan is closer to the radiator inside the shroud. more you inspect more misfit items ;;; and that's from a picture.
  20. paint hides a lot . nice looking (from a distance ) unit.
  21. back then (when dinosaurs roamed) the MB was common place for running the scania. lot of R-4oo's had the v8- gas. once again racking the brain cells for R-400's having the scania. ????? did scrape alot of the filters ; couldn't have all been MB's . waterbury CT scrap metal co had R-400's can't picture eng set up.
  22. cross bar should have originally been held in by 5/8 bolts : threaded end welded to pipe. one each end, rubber grommet/ washers for flex. NOT to strengthen spring hangers. makes more sense knowing it had two fuel tanks at one time. why mack didn't have any idea == well we won't go there. LOL
  23. once again I have to say the info on this forum is mind boggling. 50+yrs later still learning. spent a week at the Mack fire apparatus school in allentown === I know there is no such place today!! well it was there 45 yrs ago. LOL point is never knew the difference in model designation== CF719-864/ CF795=865 etc. maybe I did know THEN and forgot along with may other numbers ...not only that makes me feel old ; the fact 866 parts expensive = I was around when 866 was a brand new engine,
  24. that cross bar isn't made to take excessive torque . if it keeps breaking/ snapping I would check the vehicle for problems else where == broken crossmember ,brace. bracket , loose bolts etc. it's official name couldn't tell you. just a lower support bar, old B's/ R's had cross bar used to hold cross over fuel line and lite support even they broke /cracked. we all know no longer lower fuel cross over.
  25. If a KW triaxle few yrs back was 240K ; what's the black beauty ??300K + $$$$ today numbers unreal. wreckers going for million plus etc. have to do a lot of dirt hauling to make that truck pay for itself.
