  1. wonder if this is the technology we were talking about in the redesign forum! don't remember any B-models having a "wake up" wire . and to show my old age what is a CCRS engine or a VECU EECU . in B-model terms is that an injection pump to injectors . I don't think my 1/25 scale B-81 has a CCRS engine; and I know the 1/25 DM800 doesn't . that's being repowered with a 600hp t win turbo cummins.
  2. guess that's where the phrase " things change with the times" . imagine if the Mack bros or Henry Ford came back to todays world . have to wonder would they be amazed at technology or sadden by the mess. another 65-75yrs most of us will be gone; what would we come back to?? amazing technology or a BIGGER MESS. in high school I designed a 3 dimensional drawing of a big rig; combo off set cab and the freightliner hood. before freightliner came out with it. no I don't have it threw too many things away.
  3. GO BACK ONLY 20YRS;; i'm all in favor of going back when an engine ran well, smoked a little , ran for=== A LONG TIME : I'm no fool-won't put a number in that spot. can't go back physically , toooo bad. "new tech" has one goal :what's in it for me. this electric crap- one starts the process everyone else jumps in so as not to loose $$$. take away alot of the electronic stuff , let the driver drive it ; you won't have a 250k truck on the side of the road because of a sensor or what ever. this is only an ole man thoughts, I can remember if a truck had a million miles or more without a major repair it was big time bragging rite.sure they run for millions more miles today , how many times in the shop do todays "junk"end up to get all those miles.
  4. unlike today's world, things back then were much simpler, many parts were interchangeable. the fact the suspension looked the same was possibly they were. even with the major farm equipment builders; knowing farmers then didn't have alot of $$$$ , manufactures of the equipment =rakes, wagons, balers etc made them the same so a farmer didn't have to buy a new tractor each time. the above trailer looks to be using same suspension as the AC . even the box of the trailer is similar to that of a rail car box.. it was a "world of one size fits all" LOL
  5. bigger diameter cans 30/30 will displace more lbs pressure resulting in one axle working harder =quicker brake wear
  6. am I missing something here!! when the statement says "30/30 on the front; im guessing "on the front refers to front drive axle. 24 go on front STEER AXLE ==OK. so this unit is getting 26/26 rear DRIVE and 30/30 front drive ??
  7. mount the valve/ and the adjustable linkage; measure distance from the white plastic area by the nut to the treaded adjustable linkage. make a new arm with a piece of 1/16th thick x 1/2 in wide flat stock (rough measurement ideas) drill a hole on each end ;;install
  8. the whole situation sucks. there is no such thing as a good time to happen ; but after all the perfection accomplished in the paint and assembly; a single scratch !
  9. Red one lookin good. many years ago I went to Pocono race track to watch the pro big rigs run circle track= not drags. didn't think it was going to be too exciting;; wrong . reality was the round and round with the big rigs turned to be alot of fun.
  10. any notification as to whether the engine has been started ok?
  11. think by accident I started a new topic . NOT again . LOL point was the R700 has a great promise seeing original look and not a paint cover up
  12. It's not nonsense ;; it's call mental venting. i'm waiting for the temp to go up a little right now==38 degrees. going for brake parts then heading to a 53 ft trailer brake job =OUTSIDE. and the EGR valve project of two days ago also taking place inside today, i'll do the outside brakes ;let the youngster be inside warmer doing the EGR and be his assistant if needed. this wasn't my idea of retirement. 38 degrees and still out side ;;;LOL and it's as always a freebe job .
  13. A "diamond in the ruff" , never cared for a unit all pretty and painted. paint hides a lot. NOT talking about a restoration; before the resto . comical when looking at a bulldozer and such for sale when the over spray is on the ground ,tracks all shiny. this R700 is in natural state ; hope the emergency stop has been hooked up and working.
  14. gliders back in the day were basically two rails ; steer axle and cab. all components =engine/transmission /rears were installed by some one else such as a dealer or buyer of the glider. factory didn't have much knowledge .
  15. Your ONLY 34 ;;come on , based on the knowledge you post ; I'm thinking way older.
