  1. Mama's got me side tracked with her projects for a few weeks. The other woman (my H model) is gonna have to wait a little bit.

  2. Got most of the unused holes welded up in the frame. There was a bunch. She'll be smooth and nice once she's painted. Still a ways off though. Keep coming up with more things to make before I tear her down.

Good to see the great progress and the work is looking good.

  3. Google Energy Suspension, they have a ton of polyurethane bushings available for anything you can think of...
  4. Rear end and air ride is buttoned up, front crossmember is moved back, just gotta fab up a few more things and the frame will be torn apart, blasted and then painted, woohoo.

  5. Well finally got the new rear end and airride buttoned up. Turned out great and should make for a much smoother ride. Now I'm onto the front cross member. Gonna move it back an inch to make room for an aftercooler to fit behind the grille. Took off the cab pivot arms and was going to remove the bar that they pivot on. It runs through both leaf spring schackles and frame. It had a sleeve on each side where the arms pivot. Found that the sleeves were a sweat fit. Got both of those off and assumed by looking at everything that the bar should be able to slide out one of the sides or atleast be able to be pressed out with a block of wood and a hammer. Not sure exactly how it comes out but none of the above is working. The shaft has hardly any rust on it and its been soaked with lubricant. I'm gonna sleep on it and hit it hard tomorrow. Just a few more things to fab up and I'm ready to finish stripping down what's left of the frame. The motor and tranny are in along with the suspension, everything else is gone. Gonna tear it completely down to the ground, taking out the crossmembers and everything. By the time its all said and done, I'm going to be an expert on these H-63's. There isn't gonna be a nut or bolt that I haven't had apart, BUT in the meantime I'm needing to find anybody on here who has in depth experience on this particular model. I've been stumped before and have always been able to figure stuff out but it sure would be nice to pick someone's brain who has "been there, done that" on these H-63's. With everybody that's on here there's gotta be somone who has completely torn one these down, unless they could afford to pay someone to do it for them but I think most of us are all blue collar guys. Thanks...
  6. Hunting for parts to mix and match to make this rearend work. Mama said there'd be days like this but she didn't say they'd all be like this.

  7. The new air ride and rear end didn't go in quite as planned but it'll work with some fabbing. Would be nice for something to just bolt right up.

I feel your pain but with modernizing something like this, everything is trial and error. BTDT.

  8. Fabbing up tranny mounts today and looking forward to seeing Packer and my new rear end next week.

  9. I'm wanting to use my H model to pull my 5th wheel travel trailer when it's all said and done. I'd like to get a regular semi trailer 5th wheel to put on the back not only for the look but in case I ever wanted to pull a semi trailer, to a show or something. Does anybody know if there is a dual pivoting 5th wheel out there? I hear that standard semi 5th wheels will tear up my pinbox on my trailer. I've looked on the net but have had no luck. I had the 5th wheel hitch from my pickup on my H model but it just doesn't look right at all. Needin some help here, maybe there's an adapter I can put on my pinbox for some side to side movement?
  10. The wait continues for my first issue, maybe by Xmas I'll get one...
  11. I've worked for the Dept. for 10 years and haven't had the pleasure of working with anybody that looked anything like that. My wife would be wondering why I never come home. Wrong colors though, should be tan with blue and gold, like anybody was looking at the color of her uniform anyway, ya right!!!!
  12. The truck is nice but I meant the gal in the blue jeans, wooohooo!!!!
  13. I know they exist somewhat because they processed my membership (took my money) but I haven't gotten a magazine either. It's been over three months, nearly four. I called them and they told me it only came out bi-monthly, hell I should be getting two issues then. Figured I'd just mark it up as one of those times where you join something, realize it's nothing like you expected and don't renew it next year.
  14. Floorpans are done! Now mocking up the interior to finish any more welding and fabrication so it'll be ready to be coated, woohoo. It's looking like a truck again, atleast on the inside.

  15. Passenger side floorboard done! Onto the driver side tomorrow. My boy will love being able to walk inside the cab without falling through the rust holes

  17. Replacing my floorpan

  18. Red and black, think it'll look good with your fenders being black already.
  19. Throw it away and swap it over to a 12 volt set up, much easier and less headache. That's what I did anyway.
  20. Vacation is officially overr, headin home today and back to the blazing heat. Only good thing is I get to get back to work on the truck.

  21. Looking for a dayton rear end off a single axle truck with 370-390 gears. Putting it in my H-63 with a 12 speed but no overdrive. Need taller gears for more top end speed. Wanting to stick with my original dayton wheels.
  22. Off to the beach for next two weeks, looking forward to hitting the Central Coast Cooler Truck show while I'm there, hopefully some Macks there.

  23. Finally, exterior sheetmetal replacement, DONE!!!
