    Yep some of the older ones were manual shift . Some had the 5 or 6 speed with Maxidynes.

    Before 1973 the R and DM models had a 'flat' back cab. After that the back were extended about 3" to make the cabs more roomy, they called these 'plus 3' cabs. The flat cab was still available on the U models.

    I have always found the plus 3 cabs on the R and DM models to be more appealing than than the original flat back cabs pre 1973. However to me the back of some plus 3 cabs look different. For example the back of some R models don't look as curvy as some DM models. Where there different versions of the 'plus 3' cabs?

    I had a similar thought in another topic. Which company would be interested and capable and willing to make the Mack brand great again? I always saw Scania as a natural partner or suitor but they are now owned by VW ( who owns a share in International) I believe which still makes it possible. The others such as Mercedes and Paccar have alot of product lines already in the U.S. If the situation arises probably a Chinese company would want it because they have capitalized on established American brands

    Yep KS. A great analysis of Volvo and Mack. If Volvo was to ever sell Mack, which heavy truck manufacturer could make the Mack brand great again? Scania which I always saw as a natural hook up fro Mack is now controlled I believe by VW. All the others such as Mercedes, Paccar have numerous brands already in the U.S. Then again would any truck maker be interested in pursuing Mack...apart from maybe the Chinese?

    I hope the Anthem is catching on because I can count on one hand how many I have seen one and I work next to an interstate highway. I drove to FL not long ago from NY an only saw one. Meanwhile I lost count of how many of the new Volvo that came out at the same time.

    Gone are the days when these trucks were built to last 30 yrs or more. Years ago when I toured Macungie they took pride in that philosophy.

    I always wondered how come the less roomy B cab replaced the more roomy L cab. I personally think the L cab looks better. I like it on the C model too.

    Slightly off topic but do the B67 have shorter hoods than the B7 series? Also was the L cab only available on the B7 series?

    Even if anything comes out of this with a Mack logo, a lot more resources will be put into one with a Volvo logo version. I work next to a busy corridor of I-87 just a few miles from the George Washington Bridge and often make a mental note of the many more newer Volvos I see on that route than I see Macks. It always makes me feel good when ever I see a Mack especially an older one with a real Mack engine humming along.

    No word yet what will happen to the Mexican Hermosillo plant when the Fusion ( which they are sabotaging to make a case of no sedans) goes away and what will happen to the Lincoln MKZ. That plant put out some well built cars and they Ford spent a lot of money on it.

    Yep true, but considering that the Macks U/DM and Autocar U series in the 70s and 80s had similar styles, I wondered if that name similarity caused any troubles.

    I find the short nose and slightly off set cab Autocar U series to be one of the best looking Autocars. Maybe because it reminds me of the short nose Mack DM and U models. Yep I know these latter 2 had different chassis but looked similar. Did Mack have any issues with Autocar also calling their short nose and slightly off set cab model also 'U' series especially since the were on the market at the same time as the similar looking and named Macks?

    How are the Paccar engines in KW and Pete? I often hear comments about all the other engines especially with newer emissions but few on the quality of Paccar engines. Do most KW and Petes have Paccar engines or vendor engines.

    Yep I believed they sold a lot which helped to keep Mack afloat. Makes me wonder what would have happened if Mack still kept in the medium duty line. I believe ( read on this site) there was clause when Volvo bought GMC heavy trucks that Volvo couldn't offer medium and light trucks that would compete with the light and medium trucks that GM still made. That clause prevented Mack from being in that market when Volvo bought them. I am sure others here can clarify or have more on that.

    Interesting. Looked like Midliner cab on a heavier Mack chassis. I wonder what powertrain they had?

    I saw this pic in a Facebook Mack forum but no one really could identify the model and specs. It is suspected to be either IN Australia or NZ. Does anyone know the details or name of this Mack.
