  1. Well sorta, both sides left and right are broke down by the load tube. If I remember right there looked to be two or three "webs". The front and back webs were cracked 3/4 the way across. Bear with me, im learning as I go and my vocabulary is limited.
  2. Hey guys, need some help. I was looking at a B61 and both trunions were cracked. The front and back of the trunios were cracked ¾ the width. The truck is a tandem road tractor, winch, fifth wheel and fairly short wheel base; what would have broke both of these? Was the truck just worked hard or abused? It doesn’t look too painful to fix these, is it best to replace these or risk it and try to weld them? Anyone have a pair they would be willing to part with, rough price? One other thing, in a 711 if the oil is barely showing on the dip stick how low it is, one two gallons? Thanks, Jake
  3. That was a really nice show; it was worth giving up the first day of archery. It was good to see some equipment working, especially that old B model.
  4. I was able to click the link and view the file on my PC. Looks to be about a 2 mb in size.
  5. I could really get into a show like that, where is it located? Any near PA that you know of?
  6. Boy I sure hope I can fit it in and get up this year, its right in the middle of hay season. Is there anywhere I can get directions to the show? It sounds like there will be a lot of truck parts and trucks. What else goes on there, I don't know anything more about the show but if there are trucks and food i'll be alright.
  7. I hear that, i wasn's able to make it to the show this year but im sure some one has a pile of good pictures.
  8. Hey great pictures, no better way to complement a tractor than with a trailer.
  9. Thats a pretty wild screen saver, the guys at work will get a kick out of it!
  10. Does the starter just stay engaged after it stops turning over, or does it engage and disengage quickly? Is there an easy way to turn the engine over by hand and make sure its all free and something isn’t tight?
  11. I'd have to agree, all that nice new oil and an old filter. I would want to do the same thing and start it up, but it would be best to wait.
  12. Here are a few that I found, some aren't the best but may shed some light. http://oldmacksrus.com/wiring_diags.htm
  13. Thanks for the hand book, I never knew that the systems could be that complicated. It has answered many questions already.
  14. Good to hear that you can still get your hands on this stuff. thanks
  15. I feel your pain, John Deere tools are have made in china right on them. Won't catch me owning any.
  16. Is there any way to get any sort of an operators, parts, or service manual for theses old B's? Or is there anything else that gives basic maintenance, capacities, etc.?

  18. I too was looking for some more info on air brakes and up grades and ran across this website. Its not Mack related but it did give me some more incite as to "how and what". Also there is a section on Adding spring brakes. (4) http://www.flxibleowners.org/flxbk/brakes.htm
  19. Hey guys I need a little help. Most of the Macks that I have seen have been restored and had most problems fixed or hidden. I need some tips and wisdom from you guys that have shoes older than me and/or have been around these trucks all your life. What are some of the problem spots like the back of the cab for rust, broke springs, ways to tell if the front end is beat out from under them, etc? Also, what are some of the big ticket items as far as parts go that you find most unrestored trucks need? I'm just trying to get a feel for what’s what so I don’t get taken across some day.
  20. Thats a nice looking tractor, i'd like to have one of those to park beside the 5020.

I see that some of you guys are also interested in old tractors. I added a few pictures if your interested.
  22. Your right, it won't help the ride one bit. I guess there are two reasons, one I like the look of a fairly short wheel base road tractor, and second i'd like to have an old Mack to haul tractors to shows, and some of them are pretty tight to get around with a trailer. But who knows, after I run one for a while it might be rough enough I won't wan't to shorten it up.
