  1. Saturday will be 2 years since I stopped taking it apart and started with some progress in the right direction, My helper has watched, Handed me and ask questions about every piece!
  2. O yea, Hopefully he will enjoy helping me putting the LJ together, and can remember years down the road. He has asked me 1000 questions about it. He should know a LJ from one end to the other. A couple of his baseball teammates came by and he was showing them everything about it,,, They had NO clue what he was talking about, lol
  3. Helper did great,, he held it so I could mark each piece before I pulled the paper off the adhesive.
  4. Finally got a couple of hours this morning to cut and fit the inside firewall with DynaMat, went to a hardware store and got some Stainless plugs and put in about 4 of those big holes 1 1/4 , 1 3/4 . No wonder I never tried putting a radio in it when I was a teenager,, It was so loud I couldn’t have heard it. Hopefully next week I can put the Firewall Mat in and start wiring.
  5. O YES! NOW that’s a SUPER of SUPERLINERs ! I Love it!
  6. Lol, to be honest I have never compared it to the others, it’s a Superliner 1 , all the others are 2s . I’ll look tomorrow.
  7. It’s a strong running truck, we are just to the point we don’t have time to keep everything clean and running.
  8. My parts LJ has that kind of PS system, I might swap it later. It will work fine on your truck. My H Model was a bear too steer after I stretched it and put the rollback on it . I had a couple of newer parts trucks with TRW boxes, I had to make a mounting plate, make a Pittman arm , mount a hydraulic pump , It works great, but a lot of fabrication .
  9. Thank You,, The Gray one is a Freedom with a E7 ,, The Red one we use for heavy haul is a E9 , Yellow is a E9 it’s finished now,, we just play with it , The White one also a E9 , We traded it for a B Model dump truck. Thanks for sharing your story. Very interesting!
  10. Would Love to see some pictures posted, It sounds very interesting !
  11. Good looking truck ! One of our Superliners is a factory B Model Cat . Great running truck, we put a 18 speed Roadranger in it . ( the black one)
  12. Thanks,, It always had a taller look then most LJs I’ve seen, it does have 10:00 /22 ( now 11R24.5) ) .it gets its the higher look from the springs , it has a few more leaves then my parts LJs , it’s never been changed , at least since 1963 . It really does look like the old Howard Johnson picture I have.
  13. Congratulations! Your getting a little taste of a backdrop on a 220 !
  14. You will love that sound in a pull!
  15. Stack and support looks great,, the original stack on this LJ was bolted to the cab, I have a couple of parts Superliners with mounts similar to the one you used. Not sure which way I’ll mount it,, yours looks dang good !
  16. A little more progress this evening,28 years in the making! got my cab mounts and bolts,, a lot of wiring and plumbing ahead. My main helper was Camera man today.
  17. Hey that sounds great,, I’ve got 2 parts LJs ( one is gas) and they are both plumed a little different, especially to the air gov. , that would be great if you have time for a few pictures of the firewall. That copper is pretty much still in good shape, and it’s like a puzzle, keep turning and trying and eventually it will fall into place,, but pictures will make it easier. Thanks!
  18. My Helper holding air valves so I can bolt on from inside,,, then trying to figure out how all the copper lines go back that I took off 25 years ago !
  19. Great! 50 Years! Nice 700 ,,, Thanks for sharing!
  20. Great Theory! Thanks for Sharing. Hopefully I can get back in gear on the LJ this week. I enjoy sharing , it keeps me motivated. Matt’s B73 and his post has been a great encouragement for me! Thanks to All for the reply’s!
  21. Yep we’ve all seen times change,, Good Stories though. At this point I’m just looking forward to driving this LJ again before I get to old !
