  1. Thank you, they are the original NOS sealed beams, thankfully they are 12v , I purchased the NOS fender turn signals and they had 6V , it was like a quick flash when I turned them on. Yes it’s been a rough 6 months, but we are slowly moving forward, we are able to use the new bridge, had to fill over 100 tandem loads of dirt around the shop, just got a power pole up last week, bay doors replaced, next step is replacing all the metal on the exterior.
  2. First truck show pictures , My “ Helper “ explains the photo album and how the LJ got the scars on the front bumper and left fender. And setting at the weight scale on I40 , ( Best Inspection they have ever given me! )
  3. I had a set of chrome rings that were upstairs and survived. My Helper was all about putting them on .
  4. THANK YOU for the help upgrading my account! Hopefully I can return the favor someday! I’ll try to catch up on the progress since I last posted any pictures, these are the NOS headlights I purchased from Mike Tuttle & Bruce Essick , they help me out on the lights when my original ones got washed away.
  5. You may be able to find some in your area by searching ATCA & ATHS websites, they usually have a calendar of local shows.
  6. Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely contact Barry . The truck show at the N C Transportation Museum was a huge success, great weather and Lots of Mack’s , My Grandson had a blast with the picture album we started when we pulled it out of the shed in late 2019 ( most of the pictures are on this site) , and he told them about the left fender scars! He just turned 10 last week, so he has helped me work on it half his life. It’s about a 125 mile trip down to the museum , we hauled it on my Landoll ,he enjoyed the trip with me. One last note, we got “ Redlighted “ by the NC DMV at the weight scale on I40 in Statesville NC ,,, They came out and took pictures of the LJ ! I told them the last time I came across these same scales with the LJ was 45 years ago,, 1980 ! The Inspector wasn’t even born yet!
  7. I finally got my headliner installed, Pretty much done , a little wiring on things like dome light . I drove it 30 miles to a friends trim shop and back, all did great , small leak on the rear end pinion seal , but overall good ( especially for setting 35 years and being dead center of a “ 1000 Year Flood “ . I’ve got it loaded on my lowboy, I’m going to take it to the North Carolina Transportation Museum tomorrow for a truck show. ( still have not had time to set down and reduce the file so I can post some pictures, mine says Max total 26.441kb , and I reduced them and I still exceed the size) . Maybe because I don’t own a computer, just iPad & iPhone, I never had a problem until recently,,,,,,
  8. My Son and Me have been using Superliners to haul equipment for about 10 years we’re still running 3 of them. I’ve been looking at some late 90s - early 2000 CH ‘s . Just looking for air ride and a quieter cab , I’ve really never been around many CH’s , I have noticed some have door vent windows and some don’t, And the dash change around 2000 , any tips on the best ones to look for ?
  9. Headlights installed, Hopefully get the headliner installed week after next, only a few more lose ends, my goal is getting done and taking it to the truck show at the North Carolina Transportation Museum on May 10th . ( Crossed the new bridge to the shop this week, hopefully we can start replacing the walls in a few weeks, Power company came out and marked the spot for the new pole, It took 100 tandem dump truck loads to build back the land that washed away.)
  10. Got my NOS Headlights painted, hopefully install them this weekend.
  11. Ok I’ll give the pictures a try, Thankfully the wild fires haven’t been close to us, I hauled some equipment down to the NC/TN line Where I 40 is washed out Monday and the side of the mountain was burning, it rained Wednesday so hopefully that helps. I’m going to try to bring something to the Dark Corner Show, we are making some progress, warm weather will help!
  12. I finally got some NOS headlights, I took them apart to paint them, it was like looking in a Time Machine, cloth wiring, perfect! I have the door panels on and the window glass in and working, hopefully I can get it ready to make the show at the NC Transportation Museum on May 10th . ( I can’t post any pictures, it tells me the file exceeds 26.44 kb , I’ve tried to reduce the size but it still says it’s too big? Any suggestions? )
  13. I may be wrong but I think I remember seeing some trucks in the Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum a couple months ago with 24 “ inch wheels. Tube type. But can’t ever remember seeing a 26.5 tubeless . If anyone knows what is still available it would be the staff at Keystone .
  14. The bottom of the footing is about 4 feet below water level, with rebar tied up to the abutments, we channeled the water down as deep as we could and used pumps to keep the water from seeping in .
  15. I installed my left window glass in the LJ Friday, nice weather for February. Then early Saturday morning 7 volunteers from an organization called Hope Mill showed up and helped My Son and Me set the beams and flooring for our bridge to our shop! A LOT of work in one day! Great group of volunteers! I have some pictures but for some reasons it keeps showing files are too big???
  16. Thank You, when I get my door panels on and the window glass in I’ll be ready to install the headliner i got from you, I showed it to a friend of mine who has a upholstery shop, he’s going to help me with the trim, I also painted the corner vent slides and the metal trim for the center of the roof.
  17. A nice warm day, one step closer .
  18. Took the forms down today, we are going to let it cure for a week or so, before we start setting the beams. I bought a complete bridge and hauled it in ( it was a NC state road bridge) . The shop is for our business, we occasionally work on customers trucks, but mostly ours that we haul equipment with.and usually there’s an antique project in the corner. Thanks for the compliments , I’ve learned a lot from some of the guys on this site and have personally seen some of their work that’s amazing!
  19. It got warm enough today that I put a coat of primer on my inside door panels, hoping to paint them soon and install the windows . Making progress on the bridge to the shop, cement poured, hopefully we can set beams next week. It will be SO NICE to get back in our shop!
  20. Getting ready for warm weather, hopefully I can roll with the interior when it warms up. Got some material for the bridge and some volunteers pitching in with labor and concrete, then hopefully by summer start rebuilding the shop. Slow going with the weather.
  21. I’ve seen a few pictures of HO-JO stuff in the 60s but nothing from the early 50s ,, Thanks for the pic. That’s getting closer!
  22. I’m still very curious about the color of this truck, I’ve never seen a color photograph of it,, it has some of the similar schemes as mine?
  23. I took 2 more inside door panels to get lightly sand blasted to replace my original ones that got washed under the truck during the flood and bent double, I tried straightening them but I couldn’t get the ribbing straight. So anyway now moving forward with another set, also found a set of NOS headlights but haven’t picked them up yet from a friend a few hours away ( I was nervous about him shipping them, My luck they would get bent no matter how carefully he packaged them) . D-Day fixed me up with a headliner that he had, cut from a original pattern with original type material ! The guy that redid my seats checked it out and said it would work out great. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer I can make some more progress.
  24. I’m with you on a B cab being cramped. I think it was because of durability , the door seems to be tighter after years of use. Maybe that’s why the LJSWX-D with the hard nose has the 3 hinges, stiffer suspension shakes the cab more?
