  1. im 32 and its nice to see some guys my age that are into macks like me. most of the guys my age that are drivers and truck enthusiasts are all into paccar and cat engines. i remember as a kid in the 80s and early 9os mack was king around here in the northeast. my dads first truck was a 1968 international loadstar single axle with a tag log truck he bought in 83. he only ran that for a yr or so and in 84 bought his first mack a 74 RD . andhas been mack ever since with the exception of 2 western stars but mack superliners and CL 's were the back bone of the fleet . things have changed so much in trucking the past 15 or so years . as a kid i couldnt have imagined seeing more petes and kw and freightliners on the road than mack trucks. so it is great to see my generation carrying on the mack tradition.
  2. i was looking at them today and theres a weld mark all the way around them.
  3. thats weird our 89 superliner has the fabricated 50k lb rears and has never cracked . truck has 1.2 million miles
  4. price is the major factor in truck purchases. and the titan was over priced from the start. although it has became more competitive price wise. i think you also have to lookat when it was launched the construction and forestry industies were in free fall and still are not doing well. mack never really stocked superliner v8 models or CL models they were always more custom order truck or atleast in the norteast you couldnt go and buy a superliner or later a CL With a v8 on the dealer lot. we just ordered a second titan with all mack components this time as our fleet of cl models is aging and have to update and for us the titan is the choice we made because of our mack service dealer and the performance wise its a amazing truck . i dont like people talking smack about something theyve never driven
  5. my dad built a CL glider kit a few yrs back that has a 95 vintage vmac 2 remack 427hp with a blixxton box and advanced the timing about to the max and he blew a turbo and the aftercooler not long after building it so he tuned the timing back a few degrees and it runs great now lol
  6. seems like theres alot of people on here running down newer macks. i think the 04 thru 07 macks deserve to be talked negatively about but the 08 and up are much better . i think the mp engines are just as good as anything else out there today. i dont here drivers complaining about the mp8 505 hp macks. i was talking to a pulp hauler in glens falls ny last week thats running a 2012 pinnacle with a 505 mp8 pulling 120k lbs every day and he said its doing great . lots of power and reliable . our 2012 titan is doing great. it has only had to regen once since august when we put it on the road, and it has as much power as anything out there.
  7. also i know a company called warren fane trucking in troy ny that just sold 10 2011 kw w900"s that were worthless piles of crap and bought 10 new mack pinnacles
  8. have you ever driven a titan mr oldrd6bbst ? itll pull the frame out out from under any kw or pete. we have one and have a second on on order. so dont run your mouth until you try one
  9. i have a mack cl700 with rockwell full locking rears on hendrickson walking beam suspension. i have eating u joints lately on a regular basis in the short shaft between the rear ends . i checked the angle and it is at 18 degrees . is this bad ? what angle should it be ?
  10. how i feel is mack made tons of mistakes in the late 80s and 90s. first was when thney made the e7 it should have been atleast 800 cubic inches . maybe 850. the 728 was good up until the mid to late 90s when cat and cummins powered trucks with 475 thru 550 hp became common . mack was stuck with 427 and 460 and weak engine brakes . then they discontinued the superliner and replaced it with the cl wich looked just like a ch setback axle with a longer hood. no chrome and polished aluminum grill surround no setforward axle. it was just stupidity. then they wouldnt modernize the v8 and just stopped making it and started putting cummins isx motors in the cl. they stopped making the rd800 and didnt make a ch cab based truck replacement for it so they handed western star and kenworth more sales. all of these things happened pre volvo.
  11. i still cant believe pelletier destroyed those 2 titans. i think he needs new drivers.
  12. ive said this 1000 times . mack is better now than it was 10 yrs ago hands down. the mp series engines are the best engines available today. cummins is having tons of problems and so is volvo and international. lets see who would rather have a ac 460p mack engine or a mp8 505 hp. its not even close. its been 12 yrs since volvo took over mack . gmc white and autocar all were eaten by volvo. mack still remains. volvo even lets mack have the most powerful trucks .
  13. yeah i love that truck . as far as i know the superliner with the stripes like that was the first one painted like that. or thats what they told my dad when he ordered it . as far as cersosimo goes i guess they did have problems with the e tech ch trucks but there drivers were cry babies always whining about macks. i heard ownership would switch back but the drivers only want paccar. a couple of there freightliners burned up and they had all kinds of motor problems with the cat acert
  14. yeah we go to brattleboro all the time almost a daily basis. allard lunber and cersosimo lumber. remember when cersosimo had a fleet of all macks rd and dm and ch and cl models ? now there all shakers and paccar.
  15. heres a couple of superliners. sorry for the poor picture quality. the first one is a 93 superliner we had e7 400 12 spd and 50k lb camelback it was rugged truck motor had 30000 plus hrs and didnt burn a drop of oil when we sold it. the second picture is my dads 89 superliner when it was new . we still have this truck .
  16. heres a 94 CL 713 . that my friend from the adirondacks has owned since new i think it has 800k miles on it now e7427 18 speed mack
  17. thought id start a new thread like the construction truck ones . heres a few pictures if our current fleet
  18. cabovers will never catch on here in north america again. we prefer style over function . we load alot of canadian flatbed haulers with logs and almost all of them have peterbilt 389 or kw w900. with 250 to 280 wheelbases and a huge gap between trailer and truck. they have all kinds of trouble getting into log landings 15 yrs ago the canadians were running more practical trucks . its the same with dump truckers around my area. half of them have big long nose paccars and 15 or 16 liter engines in there tri axle dumps. so they loose a couple tons of payload to have a "cool " large car truck. to haul 69000 lb gross weight on a triaxle in vermont its crazy to me again 15 yrs ago you didnt see this . it just seems dumb to me . but hey its a free country
  19. yeah theres 2 titans on there one tri drive and one twin screw ..
  20. sorry theres a 2009 titan with a 64 inch mikmak sleeper for sale on market book looks bad ass
  21. 2000 mack cl713 cab and chassis 250 wb . 460 xt engine 18 spd fuller and rockwell ful locking rears 20k front axle 46k rears on hendrickson spring. elite red interior . 150k miles on rebuilt engine asking 35k or best offer,802 694 1397
  22. there was a thread on here about a month ago that i saw that said if you put a mack ac series cam in a ai series engine you will see a big differance in power . i guess the ai engines have a cutback crank . i heard the ac crank will wake up the ai . peole have done this
  23. i always laugh when some peterbilt guy mis spells there truck spelling and calls it peterbuilt lol..
