You might have noticed the different Reputation icons around the forums? This isn't new, but it is more enhanced in the new IPB version. You can start using rep by clicking the little plus icon in the lower right corner of each post. A comment box will open and you can type something nice for the member that posted it. Obversely, you can click the minus icon and leave a less than favorable message for the poster, but please do not abuse this. The results of your comments are visible to everyone. Only use neg rep when needed! Each rep you get raises or lowers your rep rating in your topic profile and in your profile page. You can view the comments in your profile page, but you will have to visit the link back to see who left the comment for you. Your overall ratting is show in the topic profile every time you make a post. There are also some rep stats included in the side box on the main forum index page. Overall, this is just a fun feature and has no bearing on member status or anything. I still urge that you only use neg rep on someone that deserves it like Sgt Mack, for example! It is a good way to give someone a quick thank you for a good post, something that made you laugh or something that helped you with your project! Another tip is to add your user name to the comment so it is easier for the poster to see who left the comment for them! Example: "Great post! Thanks...Barry"
