  1. Wow! This truck is way out of my price range, but I sure do love the looks of it.
  2. Wow! Both are great looking trucks, but I love the super liner. Congratulations!
  3. Welcome! Beautiful ride. Congrats!

  5. Wow. What a kick in the gut. Hard to know what to do here, but I'd say you still have a lot of good parts there, even if you do have to get a new cab. So sorry about this. Hope everyone did right by you.

  7. Thanks, everyone. I'm a grateful new member of BMT. The owner tells me that the 237 is REALLY strong, unlike other 237's he's been around. Pump mods?
  8. Gents, Am looking into a 78 R model with 237 and straight 5 for my first Mack that would be used for light hauling and recreation. Don't know the model number yet, but the guy who owns it and has for over 10 years says that the engine is VERY strong, unusually so for a 237. He says it needs little things to become an on-road truck that'll DOT, and that he loves the truck and is only parting with it because his wife won't drive it since fracturing her wrist driving it. I'm looking for any advice, thoughts, words of wisdom/caution that you have to offer before I go further with this one.
  9. I talked with this guy today. Seemed like a real nice, straightforward kind of guy. I'm thinking seriously about this truck for my first Mack. Runs, drives great, solid, just needs a little work to DOT. No power starring, though. Open to any and all thoughts here, guys.
  10. Thanks, everyone. I have a little driving experience now, probably just enough to be dangerous, as it's not what I do for a loving but more of an escape like the tractors and horses. I would love to master the art of twin sticking. I've only driven one a few times (quad) and and was able to get down the road in it, but would love to learn the skill and finesse. I am drawn to the B models because I like the looks of them, but I understand that there are generally major rust issues with the cabs (roofs and corners), fenders and frames. I'm starting to get the sense that an R model would probably be a safer, more dependable and usable truck until I'm ready to dump a ton of cash into a frame-off restoration. Am I on the right track in thinking this way? Also, I'm getting the sense from some threads that I've seen on here that lots of Macks are being exported. Does this make it harder to get into a good older one?
  11. Hi, Everyone! I'm Josh Phelps and I live in Oklahoma City. I do not currently own a Mack truck, but will be in the market soon and am here to learn all I can (models, specs, production numbers, general problems, etc.) before I jump in. I had a little experience with a beautifully restored B61 when I was a teenager and have been hooked ever since. I 'd like to have a B model, but would consider an R model. The ideal truck for me would be something with a solid body and that runs/drives so that I could restore it as I use it in my hobby farming and horse endeavors. Many thanks to all of you for keeping these beautiful, legendary beasts alive.
  12. From the looks of this add, this truck is very close to my parents' house in Eastern Tn. If anyone who isn't local to that area is interested in this truck, send me a PM. My dad would be glad to look at it/test drive it for you if that would help.
