Looks like it was sprayed over with red on a quick basis.
It was probably army green at one time because it was a military aircraft fueler the fire department that got it after that repainted it red.

https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucitsrh/?sl=41QSCI17263010 Not mine but for auction on the GSA they have quite a few of these military tankers go for sale usually in great shape for the money. There is another up for auction on the GSA in north Dakota still has the tank on it has a beige rubber steering wheel like the 87-early 90s black one I have not seen many of those.

These engines require a very expensive oil blend to deal with the high operating heat we learned a lot about these with my friend having one in his garage. The 240 naturally aspirated cummins in the 800 series military truck was taken out and replaced with a turbo charged 290 adiabatic.

A friend of mine bought one of these experimental five ton 813 military trucks through a GSA auction he has since sold it to a collector in Illinois.

I have a good used set of old style 70s style beige door panels from my RS for sale if someone needs them I made new interiors for my trucks.

With these being manufactured one would think the availability of new sets of heads may be a reality too.

Saw this on the GSA looked like it had a few years under her belt would probably look good hooked to a single axle B model.https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucitsrh/?sl=A1QSCI17028502

LOL I would have lasted about a whole week with some of the crap modern day management thinks is normal. C&NW was a colorful railroad to bad all the little lines keep getting bought out by the big class 1s
They call that progress I have another word for it but that's life in our modern times.

What railroad did you work for? Always wanted to work for a railroad but I would never fit with all the current day union politics, safety this, cant do that kind of stuff.
I worked at the C&NW that's why I didn't stay politics especially when they got bought out.

Were you a RR Engineer?
I visited this site 4years ago. I took the road the winds around the south side of the loop. I was heading East If you have ever driven that road you know its winds around pretty good. I did the drive in a semi truck with 53' race car hauler. axles all the way at the back.. It started out fine but I was getting a little worried about a mile into it.
I spent some time behind the control stand many years ago when we still had some of the old F7s still in service wish I would have stayed I would have retired years ago with a fat pension.

Doesn't look like the trailer has lights the four ways are working on the first trailer maybe a broken air line has the brakes locked up. Didn't know it was a set of doubles until the last part of the video.

Looks like just another fun day in Alaska.

Another tip spray the tank down with brake cleaner and wipe off it takes all the black aluminum oxide out of the pits and will lighten the aluminum up a bit then use a good car wax to seal it up.

I see the smokey and the bandit truck still has the tube type bias ply tires nice touch for authenticity.
-
That tank looks like mine on the RS when I polished it out since they were never polished at the factory they need to be sanded with 800 grit them buff them again to make them like a mirror.
