  1. thats good to hear the problem solved

I dont worry about using the clutch to split just flick the switch and back off the go pedal and then straight back into it if dosnt shift clean straight away you have some other problem .

Just a word of warning if your mate hasn't driven one of these and are used to a shudder "road ranger" ur yuck as soon as flick the switch it puts pressure on the selector fork trying to change it were as the the other inferior brand only try to change when the stick goes thru neutral

  2. the shifter rods under the lids might have some surface rust maybe? you can take the lids off with the box still in getting the rear lid back well he will a whole fresh bunch of swear words . Has he looked the air rams maybe there leaking? "O" rings maybe buggered ?

  5. mate there are gear box's and theres gear box's I have never heard of it been hard to get parts for a Mack 12 speed and if we can get them here in Australia Im sure you can get them over there easier to drive than a 13 speed roadranger and a lot tougher I no what I would prefer 12 speed every time seeya

  8. pretty much as Greg says maybe could reduce the bight on the drill ie maker the angle it cuts flatter so it bites less will help to reduce broken drill bits make sure the swarth coming off the drill bit is blue that way you no it is taking all the heat not the drill bit if the swarth is not blue you are going to slow and the drill bit will bite and break a lot easier good luck with it all

  9. things you need to check are

phase angle which is the relation ship between drive shafts assuming there is more than one drive shaft between between front diff and gear box when you look down the drive shaft the uni cross's between the two shafts should not be in a straight line the rear shaft should be one splined notch behind the front shaft in the oppiset direction of travel for the pto shaft other wise you will get torrsional vibration between the two shafts

the other thing to check is the vertical angle of all the uni crosses must be exactly the same other wise the unis accelerate deaccelerate at different speeds which will cause the same problem as described

both of these problems will not be picked up by balancing the drive shafts as the shafts are not out of balance but will cause the annoying vibration you mention and are both caused by lack of properly trained mechanics they just no that computer says do this and thats what they do so it must be right that is the modern world though

here is a link thingo for the second problem that describes it much better than me

    http://www.hotrodhotline.com/md/html/drive_shaft_harmonics.php

will have to dig out picture of the first problem I spoke about had quick look on google only found the second and most common problem hope this is of some help
