I am wanting to lift my cab off and pit heat shield and more sound depending under it

In Australia before the days of luxurious power steering and the like trucks had either a lesser or greater castor angle which caused you to chase the wheel at speed down the high
Often this is referred to as taching, like sailing a yacht
This is easily correct by returning the caster to the correct angle with wedges between the axle and the springs
The purpose of the incorrect castor angle was it made it much easier to steer at low speed as in parking ot tight manoeuvring
Im guessing this was a common practice back in tbe day across the world
Im also guessing the castor angle was decreased but a proper wheel alignment place should be able to give you correct castor or no doubt google can help
Then off to your local hardware store and buy a spirit level doodah that can measure angles and see what you come up with

As far as I know phasing of drive shafts is only needed when more than one drive shaft is used
Each shaft generally is not lined up, the yokes on each shaft must be lined up but the yokes shouldnt be lined up between shafts
As in the yokes should be not in a straight line down a drive shaft
Usually starting from the gear box end each is set one spline tooth lagging the shaft in front
However this not always needed . Unsure why and or whats differrent but I think it may have to do if the shafts are balanced as a whole or separately
I doubt there is many places that can balance a combination shaft 25 feet long
I also think the phasing may have to do with one shaft interfering or affecting the other I do not know this and only am guessing

That's impressive. Did they say what was rebuilt/ replaced over the years? Truck makers would go outta business if they kept making trucks like that
No mention of anything like that
I know of Superliners on triple road train work grossing over a 100 ton ever day of their working lives 44's , 12 speed ,440 and 500 E9's that have done over a million miles or 1.6 million km with out a spanner on the gear box or diffs
The E9 motors never had the longevity of a E6, dont get me wrong they are a good motor just not as good as a E6 in my opinion
Back to figures above for the box and diffs, I feel they are pretty impressive figures, to put that weight into USA truck talk thats over 250,000 pounds
They are huge figures, Mack sure new how to build gear back then

Sounds like you just volunteered to make 2021's calender
Should be plenty of people to volunteer photos of their pride and joy or who knows maybe even someone elses pride and joy
We could have to nominate a photo that isnt our own and you get to choose 12 or maybe 14 if we include front and back covers

Dynamatting well under way. Ordered 2 new airseats and made up new floor brackets for them. Got some pleated black vinyl material coming for back of cab, door panels and firewall. Going to get a new floormat too, might as well at this point..
Amazing how this stuff can snowball, I really just wanted to get the windshield wipers working again.
Yes things snow ball very quickly sometimes

Alcoa 10 stud rims
Or Budd rims you blokes call them I think
I have noticed there are two types mentioned on here
Piloted mounted or some such thing and the other type
So this may seem dumb to you lot but apart from Budd rims on a old truck with double nuts and rims on a Isuzu that rims just clamped up really really tight these are the only two stud mounted rims on trucks I have had any thing to do with
I gather the Isuzu was a pilot mounted jobby and the other was Budd as it had that stamped on the rims
I have only spider hubs on trucks and trailers
You blokes call spiders dayton or some such thing
So can some body give me the low down on the ten stud jobs and the whats what and whos who of them
Thanjs in advance fgor thw wisdom

Well this is how it ended up
Seller provided the stat dec which doesnt really mean much as a criminal type isnt gunna care about filling out a false document
So I as agreed tried to pay the quite considerable amount of money into his account with details he provided me of his account
This is many many thousands of dollars
Anyway the payment came back from his bank as his bank rejected his account details
I phoned my bank and they said I had all the correct details and all was confirmed as been correct and matched the details provided
My bank suggested fraudulent activity on his behalf was the reason why, they wouldn't go into any further details but I felt they clearly new what was what
My bank advised extreme caution before going any further and also advised me they thought it would be extremely unwise to proceed
So I contacted the seller and left a message
I heard back from him today and got a mouthful of abuse
So looks like its not the car for me

Worry about nothing
in Odds and Ends
Posted
Do we worry about a whole heap of crap these days or what
Came across this on Facelessbook
Tough old blokes who despite what the ungrateful sods of today bitch about did a hell of a job and changed not only the U.S. future forever but the whole worlds future for the better
I dunno if you need Facebookor not view it, someone much smarter than me will have the answer
I wonder what these old fellas would think of America today compared to the one they fought to create
No doubt things like the space race and our fast l
planes etc would impress them, not so sure about the girls blouses running yours and my country into the ground
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and as John Laws would say "keep the dream alive"
