Macungie 2014 Comedy Club- Candid pix- Captions needed!
1958 F.W.D. replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
I saw you- no one could miss you with the pronounced limp of the left side of your body -
I have always been in love with the 4-door cabover Marmon RV that comes to Macungie- but this......THIS would be my ultimate RV!!!!
-
0615- just crawled out of bed, looked outside and it's beautiful!!!! As per the usual operating procedure, wife came to the show last night with Extra Small, Small, Medium and Large and we went to the family reunion picnic (No I did NOT win the $500 bucks this year, but I did win a $50 gift certificate to Berube's Truck Accessories) and then took me home. This morning a buddy is swinging by the house around 0830 who will take me back to the show, and I'll bring the FWD home this afternoon.

I wonder if that antique mixer was heading to some truck show that I have heard about in eastern Pa?

Macungie 2014 Comedy Club.........Feel free to add any you may have. And please, by all means, fire away with your captions..... First one is for OTHERDOG......This is crying for some of your infamous photochopped cartoon bubbles!!! I don't know what they are doing, I'm not certain THEY know what they are doing. Extra Small! 10 mins after we got home from the family reunion- I told Small to head upstairs to the bathroom and start getting undressed for a shower, and I got distracted for a minute doing something for mommy....And this is what I find at the bottom of the steps.

How'd they catch his ass? He have some of your stuff on him or something? He come back and get caught on candid camera???

The Fogelsville Inn is FANTASTIC!!!! Looks kinda dreary from the outside, but don't underestimate the place!!!!

Ken, Mike was having trouble going to sleep last night, so I offered to come out and tuck him in and give him and his teddy bear a good night kiss- but he said he would rather have had that redhead do it. So I called the TK and got her on the phone. She said "The creepy looking guy at the end of the table? He looked like an axe murderer" and she hung up on me.

0750 here in the Lehigh Valley. As I type this, looking out the window of my house in Hellertown, about 20 miles east of Macungie- it is raining cats and dogs. Which it has been doing on and off for the entire week. I just watched the weather, and it is supposed to lighten up later this morning, and then a cold front will push through- potentially touching off more thunderstorms. GOOD NEWS: It will clear up overnight and Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be beautiful. BAD NEWS: The damage is already done- Macungie Memorial Park is, and will be a mud pit. Oh well, not the first year it has happened for the show. I will be out today at some point guys- not gonna rush. Probably after lunch.

That is absolutely fascinating!!! The body work sorta looks like Gerstenslager but it's not......Wow this would make a cool restoration into a RV and for towing a toy trailer!!!!!
-
But note: The Pete would have disintigrated while the HM simply said "WTF wazzat? Musta been a moskeeter or somethin...."

The usual gang of idiots I mean a whole bunch of us made it out to the TK tonight and had a nice meal served by some fine, upstanding young ladies who are working their way through Nun College. I personally would like to thank Doug Maney for setting up this dinner as I think it's important we stare at brestisses support these fine young ladies in their endeavors.
-
80 trucks there already, 65 of them belong to Yarnall and 15 to Doug Maney.......
-
Countryboy make sure you are at the Watt's Mack tent at 12:00 high noon for the group photo!!!
-
No, I haven't. The damn things keep blowing engines. My Silverado however just crossed over 108,000 and still going strong!!!!
-
Carl, would you happen to know if a 2008 Silverado Z71 with the trailer towing package has that feature? I rarely tow trailers and cannot ever remember towing one with brakes so it may be a moot point, but I will keep this in mind. The girls We will miss you at dinner tonight!!!!

JT the museum will be open on Friday but the buses only run Saturday. Your hotel is not far from the Museum, which is behind Queen City Airport, at the Lehigh Street exit of I-78. Let me know if you need directions. Preliminary weather reports showing the rest of this week, but especially Friday being a washout in the Lehigh Valley- heavy rains predicted for Friday, however Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be beautiful. That won't take away the quagmire of mud however. So if you are bringing a truck, use caution when parking!!!!

Don't sweat the petty things...........Pet the sweaty things!!!!

Thom, I'll be at Macungie- you can't miss me, the only FWD truck that's ever been at the Macungie show for the 10+ years I have been going, why don't you stop by and introduce yourself. You can meet my Dad, too. Trust me, his last name does not start with an "M." -But I won't hold my breath waiting for you.

Off to the Mack Museum
1958 F.W.D. replied to jackb61sx's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
You guys should have waited a couple of days, took it to Macungie (another 10 miles down I-78) and then dropped it at the Museum!!! (or are they putting it into the show??) -
No relation. My father was one of the original 12 owner/operators who were working under HJM when he was leased onto Southwest Freight, and then started Jevic. There's more to his involvement but I don't have the time to get into it here. He went into and out of the office on various assignments for about 2 years, and then eventually went in full time, and that's when HJM bought his tractor from him. I myself worked for the Fuel Dept and Operations before moving into the Willingboro Shop full time. Many members here know who I am and who my father is, Thom, and they also know that I only speak the truth. You sound as if you may be bitter about something. Care to share your thoughts?

I saw you guys headed westbound on 78 around the 57 yardstick this morning about 10:00am or so, thought you were arriving early for Macungie. Looked good!!!!! -
Superliner Mystery Part

Clearly you are all fools. That is obviously a left-handed wurlutz harmonizer retention bracket. -
From the Macungie exit of I-78 Get on I-78 E/B. Get off at Lehigh Street (same exit you would for the Mack Museum) except when you get to the bottom of the ramp, make a right instead of a left. Go about 200 yards, you'll see the TK, make a left at the traffic light to get into the place.

I started hearing rumors of this late on Thursday and all day on Friday, I held off on posting anything here as I was hoping they were bullshit CB rumors, but unfortunately they are not. It has been made official that New Century Transportation (AKA "Red Jevic" or "Jevic Part II") has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy in business-friendly Wilmington Delaware, and most of the office staff was told to remove personal possessions and leave today. The WARN Act 60-day notices have begun arriving at employee's homes with mail delivery today. All drivers have been advised not to make any pickups, and the driving force is being laid off in stages so as to allow delivery of remaining freight. ESTES Freight will be stepping in to assist and has opened their HR Department to any and all interested NCT Employees with job offers. Now, for anyone who wants to badmouth HJM in the same manner that they did when JEVIC did the same thing, you need to know this- HJM was completely OUT of the game when Jevic went down the shitter. He has NOTHING to do with it. The same applies here for NCT- he has been out of the game and in retirement for 3-4 years now. He does own several pieces of the property that NCT operates on (most notably the Willingboro Shop/Fuel location) as well as some others. Yes he was indeed seen at NCT's Westhampton Corporate HQ this past Friday, however that was in an attempt to negotiate payment of rent that was owed him. And yes. his daughter DID work there, however her current employment status is unknown. HJM is a decent, honest and above all ethical person- who only ever had the best interests of his employees in mind. My father worked with him when he was leased onto Southwest Freightlines out of KCMO back in the day, and then when he started Jevic dad went on board with him and worked for him for 20+ years before HJM was legally REQUIRED to disengage from Jevic. He gave me a chance when I was 18 years old (and even younger then that unofficially......) and I worked for him for 3 years before I became a Career Firefighter. I would gladly work for him again any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Both JEVIC and now NCT's closings are a result of poor management by the venture capital companies that owned them both. Nothing more, nothing less. And both several years AFTER HJM left.
