  1. When I went to college we tore down and rebuilt a 3406B. When we were all done we hooked it up to a dyno. I don't remember any of the numbers, but man was that a great experiance. That engine had been gone through twice a year for probably 10 years. My dads highschool freind has a couple of Pete's with 550 e models and 18 speeds, those things will flat pull!

And this is for you Ben, we also set the rack travel on a 12v71 and then fired it up and loaded it up in college. The classes in the rest of the building would complain every time we ran it. They are definetly a great sounding engine. We had to have the janitor there with a mop to keep the the oil from pooling under it.

    Ben

They may leak but show me a 3406 anything that doesn't leak too

  2. Hmm. I do have manifold leaks. Thanks for your input. This wintah were going to do some mayor rebuilding. Install my 18918B some 3.65 or 3.87 rears the Antrim turbo with the big spark plugs I bought. Guess I better do manifold work as well. I have a broken exhaust stud but its not leaking near it.

  3. Hot and Humid, Hmmmm maybe go for ride at night when cool and see if problem still persists, I remember when you 2 were in diapers. ??? now you can figure out where I'm from

Ok, you got me. Im clueless. But that's not suprising

  4. Been running my EM9 kinda hard last few weeks. On my way down outa Maine last week I stopped for fuel, at an Irving which is all I pretty much use. Since then immedeitly after we lost @ 4-5 lbs of boost and the pryo doesn't heat up as much. Stop by the house to change fuel filters. Nothing changes. Truck runs fine but doesn't pull quite as good. What would cause the lose of boost? Still smokes the same. The weather up here is horrible with hot humid day & night. Any suggestions?

  5. is it done to keep warm ????? or maybe stop the motor freezing I cant imagine it would be done just for the AC to stay nice and cool would it ??

Im old school. Yes it runs when im sleeping. Heat in the wintah and A.C. in the summah. Plus in my case I live on a dead end road and if 6 vechicles go past my house all night long theres something wrong. So trying to sleep in a truck stop just plain stinks for me unless I leave it running.

  6. The green '85 Superliner was almost brand new in the pic,it's hooked to a '77 Chamberlin, same trailer the red '78 Cruiseliner is hooked to. The '74 behind the F model we traded for a new one in 1980,the '77 we kept around for 15 yrs.,finally traded it for a new '92 Wilson.

    That's just plain cool.

  7. Wtf?! That's definitely not right! My 2015 is ice cold idling or driving. And if your service guy has any brains he should know that these engines are not supposed to be idled up. 550 to 700 rpm's but never above that. These dealers sure can give trucks a bad rap. I would have it back to a good dealer immediately. There should be no excuses like you were told

Why wouldn't you bump the idle when sitting still? I thought all engines are better off when at a high idle if left running for an extended period of time? Just wondering

  8. Theres a little more to it. Your Amp meter will have to be delt with, the heater motor wires need to be reversed, fuel gage wont work, radios will not take the change. I have in the past swapped the wires on Amp meter and heater motor and lucked out. Fuel gage? Did Mack ever make a fuel gage that worked anyway?
