  1. Air ride rear suspension is a factory option on the Silverado medium duty, is it available on the International CV as well?
  2. Analysts say 90% of Ford's profits come from the F-150 alone. Wordwide.
  3. I have noticed that the only 'trucks' Farley and Cannis ever mention are the F-150 and the Transit. Maybe because those are the only profitable vehicles Ford manufactures? Electrification is coming and it will be big, but I think these guys are putting too much emphasis on connectivity. What can Ford do with connectivity that any other OEM can't also do? I remember when connectivity in our company trucks was the 2 way Motorola. Then it became the MDT computer dock. Now it's a holder for an I-phone.....
  4. I have had some success cleaning sludged up engines with Rislone. I changed the oil and filter, added Rislone, drove for a week and repeated 2 or 3 times. The problem is you run the risk of loosening sludge up and having it jamb up the oil pump or plugging the oil pickup. Also if you do manage to clean the engine out, you might find that sludge was doing a pretty good job of plugging up leaky gaskets, and now that it's gone..... That having been said, I have seen a number of old untouched Ford 289's and 302's with low miles suddenly loose oil pressure due to pieces of the nylon cam sprocket and/or valve guide seals lock up the oil pump. I think 'Freightrain' and '1965' are both right, either leave it alone or pull the engine and freshen it up.
  5. I have a feeling Nikola won't be the only truck manufacturer using GM fuel cells and batteries.
  6. I think Navistar spun off their defense division a couple of years ago. They may still own a part of it.
  7. They are worth something to somebody. I remember a Ford Truck dealer we used to do business with always had a couple of C series cabs in stock.
  8. Really looks nice. Now, stuff the Scania V-8 under the hood!
  9. If they can just figure out how to get the Scania V-8 in the HX. Now that would be a truck!
  10. Fling those too far and you could create a UFO sighting......
  11. I never liked the dash on the old L's. Gauges were too small, and they were mounted at too shallow an angle. They would constantly collect dust and dirt if the truck was a dump. The GMC Astro 95 had a wrap around dash a year or two earlier, but maybe the L was the first conventional with one.
  12. I think the deal will insure the long-term survival of Navistar. And Traton too for that matter.
  13. Without Navistar Traton will never be fully competitive with Daimler, PACCAR, or Volvo. Without Traton, Navistar will go on much the same....
  14. Last time I saw spokes on a new truck in Southern California was about 1990. Nabisco had a bunch of GMC Topkick tandems with van bodies. I figured they were from a big fleet order ordered back east.
  15. Yes, that truck with the integrated sleeper. They built at least one. That version didn't appear as a 'Sterling'.
  16. They did look nice. For a minute there back in the early 90's it seemed to me that the LTL'S were finally starting to gain the interest of O/O's, I was seeing more and more of them outfitted like the pictured truck. Although a long-nose version of the HN80 was planned (and at least one prototype built, anyone remember seeing it?), it never materialized and the Ford big conventional died with the last LTL's in 1995.

  18. No wait, it has the cool little 'W' mudflaps ahead of the front wheels, that makes it a Star Car for sure! Does this mean the end is coming for the Western Star steel cab? Buy a Freightliner SD114 and save even more money. The International HX is looking better all the time. Autocar conventional too.
  19. Those of you from Los Angeles may recognize the Caterpillar salesman as Chick Hearn, voice of the Lakers. Great video!
  20. I noticed on ours the door jamb sticker and the California Clean Idle sticker on the hood both say Navistar, and the VIN starts 1H, which is International's identifier.
  21. Cab and interior is the same as a 2015-2019 Silverado, engine is the same. Electrical all GM that I can see. Chassis and suspension all Navistar, but it looks different from what is on the MV's. I think a lot of the Navistar supplied parts are unique to this truck
  22. Our 6500 dump has an electric hoist. Wonder what is up, the turning radius of ours is great. Yeah, the front wheels to throw mud a bit. Funny what you mention about P.T.O.'s, I have a friend who is trying to spec. and Isuzu FTR as a small roll-off dumpster truck. Upfitter says the same thing, you can't get the P.T.O. to engage without the parking (in this case spring) brakes on. That won't work for this application, you have to move the truck to load and unload the dumpster. They are working on a solution. Is this some new safety 'feature'? Sounds like someone lost a lawsuit.....
  23. I am hearing the order bank for the 2022 F-650 and 750 opens early October, with production starting 01/04/2021. Only change I know for sure is air brakes will be available with the 7.3L gas engine (BTW, I have not seen one 7.3L powered 650 or 750 yet, FWIW). No idea why Ford keeps pulling the model years so far ahead on these trucks.
  24. Won't get anything on the engine or electrical and the upfitter has no opportunity to screw it up!
