  1. I'd sure like to have an APU. Anti idling laws are becoming more widespread. You sure can't sleep in a truck when it's 90+ degrees without AC, or heat when it's cold.Probably add a good bit of weight though.
  2. I spotted this truck near Peoria, Illinois Sunday. I was driving along minding my own binness when it pulled off the shoulder in front of me. Two guys jumped out and picked up a dead animal carcass, threw it in the back, and sped off. It even had a lift gate to make loading large animals easier. Had a swarm of flies chasing after it. I don't know what they were up to, they must work for the state cleaning up road kill.
  3. I made only one trip again this week, and i'm about one paycheck from the poorhouse. Took a load of 55' piling, almost 49,000 lbs,to Sharon,Pa. Had to back in half a mile to the jobsite, but it was pretty easy except for a couple of dog-legs, tree limbs and bushes obstructing my view past the back of the trailer, and the mud. Took some pictures of course, and got some of a big Mack dump truck at the jobsite. I'm going to post smaller pictures from now on, better if you're on dial-up anyway, and delete old pictures after a few weeks. Had to lay over after I unloaded, and loaded some scrap coils in Ambridge,Pa. and Weirton,W.V. the next day going to Suffolk,Va. Unloaded early Thursday in Suffolk and went to Petersburg and sat all evening waiting for a load that we never got, so I came home. Today I went to Petersburg and picked up piling going to Williston, North Dakota, that delivers Tuesday so i'll be leaving tomorrow so I can stop at the "Road Kill Cafe" in Farmington,Il. Never been there, but i've heard a lot about it-excellent cuisine i've heard. North Dakota and Oregon are the only 2 states in the lower 48 i've never been to. I'll put new batteries in the camera.
  4. I have a drill exactly like that except mine's is a quadruplex instead of a Powerglide. I get my bits at Dollar General.
  5. ok, thanks Barry-i'm gonna clean house!
  6. hey,it hasn't broke down for over a week now.
  7. pretty truck though-almost too pretty to use.nice little video too.looks like he's going all out to sell this unit.
  8. Indeed, that's a great looking truck. That's not one you see everyday either. 220 Cummins-sound great! Congratulations on a great find and a tremendous deal, good luck with it. More pictures would be nice too, maybe pics of the other trucks too? Sounds a lot like the place NoClueJoe and I went to a while back and looked at some old trucks- like finding a gold mine, except he didn't give us one. (in my gallery,"Old Trucks in Cumberland")
  9. ...and I was just now starting to get used to the old way! LOL Anyway,I can't post pictures, always get "upload failed". What am I doing wrong?

    test...failed...again...i...must...be...offffff
  11. how come I can't upload a picture? oh yeah, that is a fine looking unit.
  12. no, I asked her what happened to the dog and she said he probably ran off. I would have brought the dog home, and faced the consequences later.I just got "Other Dog" here.
  13. I'm just assuming it was the county, but it might be some company contracted to the county. Jo said the man told her his boss said to push the button, whoever his boss is.I think that's his main job,to push the button periodically. But at least he got the dog out.
  14. yeah, a rat's one thing-but a beagle? that IS mean.
  15. Stopped by the dumpster a while ago to throw away a bag of trash. There was a man walking near the dumpster and Jo mentioned that she saw him last week at the dumpster. He tried to get her to take a young beagle that someone had thrown INTO the dumpster. He climbed in and got the dog out. This dumpster has a button you can press to compact the trash, and the man said he called the county office and told them about the dog and they told him from now on to "just push the button, don't get into the dumpster anymore." He did the right thing to save the dog, and whoever put the little dog in there ought to be in jail. Or if I were King and found out who did it i'd sentence them to spend a weekend in that dumpster-"go ahead, throw that garbage in there. Just ignore that person in there-just pretend they're not even there...yeah, of course you can throw that old TV in! By the way, you wouldn't happen to have an old piano at home you want to dispose of would you?". Would serve 'em right.
  16. It would be pretty normal if it had been me, as I tend to get lost a lot. As in "d@^^ it, how the %* am I supposed to get out of here?!!"
  17. I see this is back on TV-I've been watching it some, since the truck's been in the shop and work's been slow. Saw 2 of the big RD's, one with a knuckle boom mounted on it, and one of the Pelletier brothers drove one and hauled a load of wood with it, grossing 220,000 lbs. Another of the brothers just got a brand new truck, but he didn't get a Titan. He got another Western Star, a triaxle with a 625 Cat. He liked the power but didn't like how it steered on the slick road with the triaxle.
  18. no problem, you're welcome.
  19. I remember my grandfather cleaning and cooking chitterlings when I was a kid. They smelled so bad cooking I didn't want any parts of them. I've heard a lot of people say they're delicious-LOTS of people- but i'll agree with my late best friend David Elder, who always said "there's too much good meat on a hog to be eating the guts and the brain".
  20. Thanks for reporting in, we were on pins and needles with worry-that's a load off our minds!
  21. whew! I was afraid you were gonna say you wanted to try a new chili recipe...
