Thanks Bud. I will look again tomorrow. I have the day off from work, so I will make a good go of it.  I have a parts engine to look at again as well. If I ever do another 673, i will be better prepared.  🍻

True.  But this engine was a basket case when I got it. I wish I took pictures of it and the many boxes of parts when i went to get it..

If You flip the top gasket upside down , do the holes line up with one hole not used ?

I think so.. i guess i was thinking i needed a tall filter stand for spin on filters.  I will look again tomorrow.  I had to walk away.

will you be there when engine installed and being fired up for first time ??  I was more nervous on a 673 complete rebuild first fire up then when my wife gave birth to our daughter. Doctors were there for problems (thankfully none) ;; I was the "doctor" on engine birth. LOL:SMOKIE-RT:

a walk away has proven positive move numerous  times. better than over taxed brain making errors.

I should be there.. it will be a while.  The B frame is painted and on stands. I did the TRD-72  for it 3 years ago.  There is a lot more to be done. Like, all the hoses.. that will be a treat.  I have the old ones.

Dave.. I wish you were here to teach me ..

fun part of building is that it's always a learning experience for all ;no matter how many years are put in. when it gets to be "I know it all " : then it's time to find an office job.

You would have had a great time back in mid seventies being around this youngster who proved the Mack factory engineers wrong.  being told NO way can a Mack MB have an engine brake installed. and the Fire Dept says then keep the truck. a little bit of chop/channel and the Jacobs engine brake roared to life. first one of it's kind. the fun days of experimenting with other people money LOL

No. Its not being converted to spin ons.. I thought i had made a mistake identifying the oil manifold mounting.  When i went to my Book I was looking at the ESI section, and thought I had the wrong parts. my lack of knowledge on these engines is why im asking questions. Im getting close to finishing it and dont need to mess up now. The owner wants his engine soon.

Another thing I need is the front engine mount insulator. My old one is junk and PAI has a 1 pc. Half round Rubber insulator for sale, i guess I buy 2 of them. Do you guys know of a better option. I did search the web. All i see are half round's.

rubber insulator for front engine mount is a two piece setup ,  U shaped 1in +- not square or round rubber ? one piece fits in front crossmember saddle , second piece identical in shape fits in the top half of hold down bracket with two 1/2 or 5/8 ? Allen head bolts .  if you have top half of mount , the insulator in it is what you are looking for X2

The one i pulled out was one piece. But i see why it should be 2 pc.

got me on that one! running the brain cell rolodex; round doughnut style which slipped onto front cover -sat in saddle then top clamp compressed the rubber ???

So You do have the tang drive pump ! do you got all the bits for that? drive plate ect! I have had  little to no experience  with this set up on a 6 only the v eight! so halic is the man here! the plug on the housing peek hole may need to come out!in order to stuff the pump on! On the v eight it had a roll pin to establish the no 1!

removing the "inspection hole plug" helps for line up.  found back in the day if a light film of high tack was put on the injection pump then place the  gasket on pump, life was easier. don't know if high tack still around  with all the new plastic silicone adhesives. able to rotate pump enough to engage drive gear without screwing up a gasket. then out came the extremely modified 3/4box wrench for the top bolt in the back.

No piston cooling nozzles, i mounted the oil manifold today.  I wasnt holding my tongue right. Thanks for checking in on this.  Truth is ,,,, since i never built one of these, the bolt-on stuff was a challenge for me. Crazy part is that i built the long block without a concern. I guess because i have built more than 30 Mack engines after 1989, and saw a lot of similar/standard procedures.  If that makes sense.

My wife says, I doubt myself too much. Anyway.. I will be back here when I flow time the injection pump.  Im greatful for you guys..  Jojo
