Draggin Wagon Posted September 12, 2021 Share Posted September 12, 2021 A friend is having hard time finding a flywheel for a late 1980 EM6-285R engine in a B Model. This flywheel is a pocket style for 15" single disc push clutch. When flywheel is laid front side down on flat surface, starter ring gear touches the flat surface - very different than 673s used in B Models. Any help would be appreciated. mrsmackpaul Posted September 13, 2021 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Probably a dual plate flywheel machined out to take a single 15 inch clutch I have done this before on GMs to get things to match, I doubt a 285 was ever offered with a single plate clutch as I feel the torque would of been way to much for reliable service in a working truck Paul Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
theakerstwo Posted September 13, 2021 Share Posted September 13, 2021 The B model never came with the 285 but could have been put in later.It has same bolt pattern as the 237 and old 673.Some one done what i did and install a latrer engine but used the push to release clutch.That way no problem with linkage.
