Junior9009 11 Report post Posted April 1 Where can I buy replacement U-bolts for the rear cab support brace on an R model?
Rob 812 Report post Posted April 1 I had my local truck parts supplier whom will bend "U" bolts for springs make mine. The material is nothing special, just short threaded rod on the ends and bends easily.
Junior9009 11 Report post Posted April 2 Ok thanks Rob. I found some on McMaster-Carr’s website. They also have stainless u bolts. Wonder if it would be okay to use the stainless U-bolts as it would dress the truck up a bit too?
Rob 812 Report post Posted April 2 That doesn't take that much abuse and I can't see why they wouldn't hold up. Definitely get stainless nylock nuts and stainless flat washers to bind it all together.
Vladislav 2,088 Report post Posted April 4 When use any stainless part in contact with common steel corrosion goes pretty fast ovet the steel. That's because of different metals in contact, the same as when aluminium and steel and so on. So if you put SS part on a truck you better insulate it from contacting with steel by plastic or other non-metal part. Not good for a really tough mount in many cases but you will see fresh rust after the paint is worn or cracked otherwise.
