Hello I am a firefighter for the Town of Flower Mound TX. We have recently decided to dig our original fire engine out of the weeds and restore it. The engine is a 1942 Mack fire engine that was originally a military engine. It is in bad shape to put it lightly but we have a group of individuals who are determined to bring it back to life and parade ready. Any words of advice or any experience with this style Mack would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome; The first thing you need to do is to write to the Mack museum with the chassis number of the truck and ask for the truck's history. The service is free, but a suitable donation is welcomed. It will take a couple of months, but they will send you any delivery pictures they have as well as a complete owner's/operating manual along with the build sheets for the truck. This will give you a basis to start from.

Secondly, put a picture of the rig on here or at the very least put the chassis number on here. You will be overwhelmed by the knowledge of the folks here and they will help you out immensely.

Money, sex, and fire; everybody thinks everyone else is getting more than they are!
