Injection Pump Question

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

The Mack/Scania Diesel in our B60 has a Manually Filled Lubricated injector pump. According to my service manual, this means that I should fill it with new motor oil every 1600 miles. The problem I'm faceing is that in the service manual, it says "see operation manual for filling procedure" I do not have the Operation Manual, I only have the Service Manual. I need to know where to put the oil, how much, and what grade to put in. If anyone knows anything about this, I would like to hear it, as it is crucial to the life and performance of the engine.

This is the pump:

Here's the idenifacation plate:

It says it is a NNR6H80/273 which is actually not in the list in the manual. The smallest (numericly) is a NNR6H80/316, but that one seems pretty simalar to the one on the truck. Other ones in the book are ...90/360 and ...90/408 Etc. If anybody could share some thoughts about this, that would be great too.

Thanks,

Ben

I remenber them well but been since 68 since i have seen one. Cant help you but I would call a pump shop and if you dont have one call (918) 250-0581

(918) 250-2023

Ask for Richard Allen and tell him its a END 475 scany engine. He should know what it is. Engine oil goes in it i know that.

hey Ben, is that scanny original?

Cousin Vinny

No. B Models with even numbers (B42, B60, B80 Etc.) were gasoline powered, Odd numbered ones (B45, B61, B75 Etc.) were Diesel powered. A B61 is exactly the same as a B60, except for the engine. Apperently somebody repowered our truck with that motor at some point in time.

WOW, i never knew that ben thanks!!! the even and odd stuff. this is prolly changing the subject a little bit, but before we got the U model, my papa looked at a 19?? B42 gas job long frame, for $1500. no rust everything was there. it didnt run though, he says sometimes he kicks himself for not buying that truck but I love my U models and im glad he got the ol' U.

Yea, it's neat that you like U models because a lot of people are fans of R models and B models, including myself. Since my dad never uses this account anyway, I'm going to try to change the Username from JumperAndSon to BModelBen because I think it sounds cool.

the B-60 Macks were originally powered with an EN-464 overhead valve 6 cylinder gasoline engine, rated at 170 H.P.

Ron

Yes indeed, that was the case. Ours has been repowered at some point by this foriegn pile of parts. But it runs good for now, so we're going to leave it in there.
