88 Superliner Wa Cl

Recommended Posts

I just happen to see a 1988 Superliner on CL in Wa. State E-9 400 T2090 looks pretty nice for the price but I'm sure there has to be some catch? I was wondering if anyone might of checked this truck out or have any info. on it?

Seen that one a couple weeks ago and it does look nice.

Given the cost of E9 series "hard parts" I doubt I'll ever own one; such a shame too.

You would think if those were "actual" miles that the engine would have some life in it yet. If those miles are accurate then that would be a nice truck to get your hands on.

I noyiced on another website ad the truck was going for 20k. It had a different photoshot of the front and the grill appeared to have quite a bit of oil sprayed, leaked or?? on it. Not saying it was engine oil but something sure stuck out.

Was the E-9 and air to air motor?

Just received an email from the owner and about 50 pics. It's a nice truck but has been sitting in that climate up there and looks like a lot of moisture got inside of it.

What a shame.

They also claim that the original truck owner rebuilt the engine, trans., and rears before they bought it. The hourmeter in one of the pics is showing 9975hrs and odometer is showing 2**,*** which they claim are not actual. I wouldn't think an engine, etc. would need rebuilt after 200k to 300k miles.

I just got off of the phone with the owner and got them down to $9000.00.

They need to sell it bad it's in a storage place.

Boy I'd like to snatch up on it but I'm afraid I'd have over $20k in it to make it roadworthy again.

9K is not big amount for a super-liner like that. depends on how far truck is and if you need transport to bring it back..

It's in Kent Washington, it hasn't been fired in over a year, been sitting 2 years with a leaky sleeper boot and vent, and now the weather is getting bad out that way unless you plan on going down thru California.

Nope 9k is not bad if you can put it on a train, a truck, or go out there and make it roadworthy to drive somewhere.

Believe me I am tempted the better half is furious saying I already have enough projects, junk laying around, and I haven't raked the leaves yet.

I can just imagine how much water damage is inside of that truck's interior, air system, and more than likely the fuel system. Too much work for me at the moment besides my shop is crammed full as it is.

yep I second this. snap it up before it ends up down here. its cheap, its a mack e9, its only been sitting 2 years, mine sat for 15 and i drove them home. go get it.

it will be all ways worth 8 or 9k up there but atleast if you go get it and park it up with yours you can then make a better decision on keeping her or selling her later on.
