  1. Nice trucks, I would have found room for the Packard at my place. A day late again. Victor
  2. I was at East Peoria attending a train show at Illinois State College when the tornado passed through. The power was out shortly and the emergency generators worked. Everyone was moved away from the windows and it rained real hard but I did not hear or see the tornado but it did touch down in East Peoria, there was property damage. I did not see any of this but it was a windy ride home to Iowa. victor
  3. Traveling west on I-74 Sunday after departing Peoria, Illinois and met 10 or 12 new Macks all white pulling matching trailers heading towards Peoria, the van trailers were painted for Caseys General Stores. Traveling at interstate speeds I was not prepared to photograph. Looked real neat. victor
  4. Mike, Thanks for posting the pictures and including my B with the stock rack. I was at Walcott wednesday thru saturday and wish i had counted the Macks, something to think about for next year. victor
  5. Day four at Walcott, ready to head home today. Victor
  6. A tractor converted to a flatbed with a stock rack. puchased it two years ago in Ohio, got a lot of thumbs up traveling to Iowa with it. Victor

  9. Big truck, big money, just purchased upper engine gasket set for the 711 engine. How does $500.00 grab you?. WOW Victor
  10. I realize the heads have to come off to replace the gaskets but i want all the parts ahead of time as i want my truck back in service pdq. I think it has the 20 stud gasket because two of the corners has two studs close together. Just wanting to order the right parts the first time. I dont have any serious problems with the engine just a broken manifold stud. Thanks, Victor
  11. I called Watts and they dont have them in stock but can get them. They need to know if it takes 18 or 20 studs dont know if i can count them with valve covers and everthing else in the way. Thanks victor
  12. Planning on new head gasket for my 58 B61 with 711 engine. what do i need to know to be sure that i order the right part and also a parts source. Thanks, Victor
  13. Plenty of good advice here but I like what farmer52 said. I just purchased a new Deka for my New Holland tractor so dont yet know how it will hold up. I purchased it at a local farm store. When shopping for anything I always look for the made in USA on it, the Deka is proudly marked. if anything you buy is not marked USA you can bet that it is not. Good idea to keep our American made Macks pure?
  14. As a very young child my grandmother baby sitted us kids. When I got in trouble I would head to the attic of our house to escape her. She would always say when I get a hold of you little trucker you will be sorry. I never forgot that. I was 80 years old when I purchased my B. Victor
  15. March 2013 edition of Hemmings Classic Car magazine has a very good two page artical on the Mack L. Includes a very good photo of tractor and trailer and the very short production of the truck. The trailer is a refrigerated unit with small doors on the front to load ice chips and gasoline blowers mounted on top. A quite a bit of history in this artical. I dont subscribe to this magazine it was given to me by friend.
  16. Until Barry receives some shirts you can always purchase them from the MACK SHOP, they have more of them than carter has liver pills, many to chose from. Victor
  17. Freightrain, Lynn Truck Parts, Massillon, Ohio. In a barn? sort of. Purchased from Lynn Hetrick and Melanie Hetrick. Victor
  18. My 58 B 61 lining up for the 2012 4th of July parade in Fort Madison, Iowa. Purchased on July 2011 on ebay it made the trip from Massillon, Ohio to my home near Wever, Iowa trouble free. The seller had owned this truck for over 30 years. Originaly a B 61 T the frame had been lengthened. I redecked it and built the stock rack. The ground wire in the heater box came loose and now ok, the reason for asking about the wiring. My first big truck and I love it. 60 mph on the road is its sweet spot,
  19. I am going to leave it alone as it causes no problems yet. Just thought it would be nice to know what it is in case I do have a problem later on. Thanks all for the input.
  20. I have talked to a couple of big truck mechanics and some Mack owners in the area and no one seems to have the answer. The heater blower works ok but the wires in the [whatever it is] are loose.
  21. The ground wire on my 58 B 61 cab heater blower has what looks like a fuse in the center of it. I dont think thats what it is. The blower works good but I need to know what is in the center of the wire. Any information really appreciated. thanks
  22. Name: Mack Date Added: Owner: bluebonnet bluebonnet
  23. Thanks all for the good information. When I first bought this truck just over a year ago it had a straight four inch pipe and had no place to store it inside so I used a plastic bag on the pipe held on with a rubber band. good thing i did because when I didnt remember it would show up in my yard, no damage done. I now keep the B inside a pole building constucted for it. Thanks again I will attach the rain-cap sideways facing away from the truck and see how that works. Victor
