That certainly takes me back... just as I was getting into my apprenticeship.

ERF A series, probably 220 Cummins, 32 tons gvw, non sleeper doing "a Continental"...

second driver is probably a holdover from when you needed a "brakeman" for the trailer, they shared the driving once the brake lever was removed... that load was probably worth a lot of money in those days as pheasant was a rich-man's delicacy.

TJC... 16 tons was probably close to the mark... with a fibreglass cab and a sheeted flat trailer you could squeeze 20 tons of load on a 32ton gvw 4 axle articulated unit... that trailer was built mostly of steel framing and wood rather than the lightweight materials of today.

TIR still exists but the constant customs stops have gone in the EU

The trailer had separate brake controls, operated by someone other than the driver?

I'd ask the person who worked with the US military for years in Iraq who was denied entry and sent back to Iraq. I'm sure the enemies he helped fight with the US were very anxious to provide a welcome home to him and his family. Or maybe the legal immigrant who had lived here for years and was denied re-entry after a family visit so she could see her dying son.

Trump ran as an outsider who will change the way we do everything. That's fine, but more often than not a certain way of doing things has developed because it works. When you arbitrarily change the system you will probably have to pay the price. In this case we will all have to pay because we will end up with a less robust intelligence system due to folks being afraid they will be betrayed by the US after they served us.

I feel no remorse for those Iraqis who 'helped us'. I'm certain they knew the risk of aiding the invaders, and were compensated handsomely for doing so.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Idioms aside (why don't you just call me deplorable?), the threat to Western culture is real.

Since when was Kosher or Halal certification a threat to anyone? Are you going to refuse to eat food that is Kosher or Halal certified?

You need to learn a few things about culture... CULTURE COUNTS..... second only to biology.... ask any persecuted minority in a Muslim country. A culture's food supply (and certification) says A LOT about their value systems.

Its worth noting here the rich irony exhibited in these comments. . . A liberal, long-time union retiree lauding the virtues of Adam Smith's invisible hand... You didn't seem to care for that much when it came to protecting your pension. Oh the hypocrisy never ends with the Left.

By the way, Douglas Murray is a homosexual whom I greatly respect.

The red one above is a 9000 with the large A-car cab. The coup cab was pre A-car cab. So I guess the engine did tilt to the passenger side in the coup cab. Makes sense.

I wonder how many other trucks had tilted engines.

I know Ford L9000's tilted... maybe the LTL's too.

Is this the cab you're talking about??

Some months back Barry had to update the site sofware and that forced changes in the interface. Many daily visitors were gone after that moment. Or got scarce. I suppose that was not mostly a matter of the change itself. Probably many got upset of being here for a long time. So additionas troubles dealing with the site made a kind of hit. Previousely that day you usually could see "collapse" in the "members online" count at the top of the page.

    Facebook makes its work either.

I agree, I noticed a big drop off after the change... and even I stopped visiting as much.
