Those buttons are under some kind of tension and might not survive the trip.
Hmmmmm......damn fine plan!

It's not just a job, it's an adventure!!!

Very interesting!
Works on a daycab, but would need a big cut out on the sleeper corner.
Best truck in the picture is the one you are driving!

Hope you can work a deal with your wife because that truck is a keeper.

I am not close but it sounds like a fun thing to do.

Not seeing what you have there, can't tell about head size on bolts.
There are flange bolts available from industrial supply stores in 3/8 fine. Take one out and see how it might match up. If the bolt head has three lines on the top it is grade 5.
Grade 5 should be ok in that application. 25 lbs for torque. if you go with Grade 8 bolts, 35 lbs.
A little medium strength threadlocker wouldn't be a bad idea.

Wonder why they call it a 14 speed. Counting the shifts and splits I got 10. Interesting though.
Sometimes the ratio is a duplicate of another ratio and it doesn't get counted or the the next shift "up" is actually a lower ratio and then you don't use it.

Yup, time to slide under and see what the trans. in the truck has to say.
It will be on the driver's side and will have TRD, TRT, or TRQ followed by numbers.
TRD = Duplex
TRT = Triplex
TRQ = Quadraplex

Since you are buying the truck regardless, contact the Mack Museum with the VIN and they can run the number and send an info pack on the truck. Usually takes several weeks for the info and send a donation to the museum for the research service.
Try to figure out what is up with the title to make your life easier when you go to registry the truck and BEFORE you give the seller any money!!!
Yeah, the truck isn't 1948 and it isn't 1953 either. Your guess of about 1960 is pretty good.
More than likely the engine and trans were swapped as a unit. Transmissions for gas engines are "lighter" duty because the torque is quite a bit different between gas and diesel engines.

Diana, what have you put in your coffee?

2013 is the date.
Best show in the WORLD!

Salyer sure has a nice deal to haul Cat equipment.

1976 and 1980 would be the same part for a "plus 3" cab corner.
Stretching a straight back cab part to make it work on a later cab isn't going to work too well.
The change from straight back to "plus 3" was earlier.

Gee, Dan......I think you are just showing off!
Looks like a decent truck and a really good scoop.

I don't have all the books, but I couldn't come up with torque number for the straps.
Maybe start at 50-60 lbs and monitor them after some miles. See if they rotate or the rubber settles in a little.

Front stoop in Queens, NY maybe....

Is all the ground material recycled into new mix?

We will take care of the ice cream and cake!

OK, follow up question. About how many teeth on the machine and how long to change them? Cost?
Can they work on a concrete?
Thanks, Jim

How many average hours before a trip to the dentist?

Looks good!
You could probably use less rain to make some progress.

This crane was on the Nov/Dec 1985 WOTS cover and was owned by Bob Brown at the time. I read through the article but no real details on the crane other than setting it up with Christmas lights and display.

That's another Crosley in the Pinto Air Freight photo.
Last time I knew, Joseph Equipment owns the Mohawk tanker. I saw it one time in Hudson, MA.
Interesting stuff.
