  1. Believe it or not,the the first place i went with this truck after a bought it was cal. i got DOT'd at the banning scale, i got a $150.00 ticket for "excessive" grease on the fifth wheel in A BRAND NEW TRUCK !!! which i was told is an "environmental hazard" i told the DOT officer (female) that i'd eat the glob of grease, and if it killed me,i'd go ahead and take the ticket! but she was not amused! no sense of humor whatsoever! so,unless it pays a TON of $$$$$$$,i try to keep my ass outta' cal...........Mark
  2. Did i miss somethin'????? here i thought we had already discussed the "semen stowage vessel" just last week!....Mark

  4. California huh? i just delivered a shipment of FANCY new office furniture to universal studios office complex just outside of LA, thats part of the old "hollywoodland" sign behind the truck, they did'nt want anyone to see my truck while i was there (eyesore/diesel fumes so i'm told) so they put me up in a pretty nice hotel. I took a few pics of downtown, smoggy, dirty shithole everybody thinks it is! something wrong with people out here, thats for sure!!....Mark
  5. Don't know if this of any help to you,but when my grandad bought the B-61T that i started in, it still had a copy of the dealer delivery receipt in the glove box,it showed the truck as purchased was $17,464.88 including options and delivery charges. The only options listed were a bostrom "T bar" drivers seat, and a recording tachograph. Ours was number 3 of a fleet order of 20 to amerada hess inc. woodbridge,NJ Oct.7,1963. So i'm sure this was the "fleet" price, but might give you some idea what it was new, yours is real close in looks to the one we had.......Mark

  7. Thats a good deal! worthwhile saving a sleeper!....glad to hear that.........Mark
  8. Yeah,i'm right there with you,my grandad drove/ran a farm 60+ years,my dad ran trucks 50+ years,me i been at it almost 30 years..just about everyone on both sides was involved in trucking one way or another. I never did the "normal" summer things either, most summers i spent riding with my dad, spent a WHOLE lotta time unloading produce up at hunts point,NY spent some time with one of my uncles who was APA'S terminal manager at philly for 45 years, also had a cousin that ran a wrecker outfit in south jersey,so i guess its fair to say i'm from a trucking family!......Mark PS you run a garage in JC? next time i get up that way, maybe can drop by for a visit.
  9. Pobey. My wife got him for me because she's got cats and I wanted a puppy.

  17. Hi all, just wanted to say how much i have enjoyed the recent posts featuring families with their trucks, i really enjoy seeing peoples pictures and hearing their stories. This is such a good site for this, and i am glad to be associated with it! and all the people i've met. Trucking has never been a "easy" business, and despite what the old timers tell you, "the good old days' were'nt always all that good! My family has been in the trucking business since before there were trucks, either in em',under em',or around em' and i am fiercely proud of that heritage! 3 generations, maybe 4 unless my boy smartens up LOL! guess my point here is this, truckings history is in the minds and memories of thousands of people all over the world, and should be heard, the old time guys are getting few and far between anymore, and their stories need be be told. Trucking built this country literally. and some tough ass guys were behind the wheel! so i guess what i'm trying to say is, talk to your grandad, your father, anyone you know involved with trucking, it's worthwhile to try and preserve some history, even if you've heard them a hundred times, write down what you hear! cause you gotta' remember when they go,their stories go with them.................Mark
