  1. My 8ll is going to need a rebuild soon... How would a 5 and a 4 hold up in a tri axle dump truck? I've heard they don't handle torque very well, but then again people ran them for years.
  2. Hey Mr. Mike, I'm gonna pull the Vision in the shop tomorrow, do an oil change and check it out, then I guess we're heading north to Russell's place to pick up that hopper bottom. You gonna be around Saturday or Sunday? How are the roads up there?
  3. Yep, that truck was heavy on the back end, kinda like those u models get side heavy. Nothing a strategically placed fat girl can't solve though!
  4. A couple of my uncles both had single axle gas burner c models with dump beds at one time or another. Apparently my uncle Johnny mounted a bed on one that hung off the back about 4 feet. Him and my cousin were climbing a hill loaded a little too fast and hit a speed bump, and it just sat up on the tailgate. They had to walk back to the dirt pit and get the backhoe to pull it back down. I'm sure the next stop was to run home to change into some clean underwear.
  5. Got it that time. Look out, y'all are gonna get tired of me and my constant bombardment of truck links now!
  6. My problem is getting them off my old samsung rugby onto my computer. The phone's about as bulletproof as your old 5 speed, but not the latest in Japanese technological advancement. Or I just don't know how to use it. Probably the latter.
  7. That's what I'm talkin' about.http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3891373
  8. Yep, I've got a 74 western day cab f model that I'm trying to decide what to do with. The 237's no good, but the 5 speed is ok as far as I know. I just don't like the reyco suspension or the questionable frame splice. I'm about to swap a couple loads of gravel for a 79 allentown f model sleeper cab with a 300 with the top mount air to air (Is this what you guys call a tip turbine?) Both trucks are the same wheelbase, so I'm thinking about swapping the western day cab onto the allentown frame. When I become a little more computer literate, I'll post some pics. I know how much you guys like pics.
  9. I got it posted. I just can't wrap my head around the whole copy/paste concept. I just manually typed it in the url box.
  10. I feel like the asking price is a little high, but it sure is tempting. Just needs an extra shifter.http://truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4032249

  12. Ten four good buddy.. I think I can figure it out from there. Thanks Vinny!
  13. I know I should know this by now, but there's a couple of trucks on truckpaper I wanted to share with you guys, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add a link to a particular page. Any advice? Other than take a basic computer skills class??
  14. That thing certainly looks alot more comfortable than my old bostrom. How bad did it set you back? Do they have one in gray?
  15. As far as the head unit goes, I'm a big fan of the heavy duty anti-skip panasonic cd players with weatherband that the Mack dealer sells down here. Mine is model # CQ 5101U and has an aux port. Just be sure and get a harness with it. Mine didn't come with one.. It was designed to plug up to a vision or granite harness, which is a little different from an RD. I was able to order one from Mack though.
  16. I'd stick with the factory size speakers if I were you. Mine actually came from autozone and sound just fine. My last r model had been butchered on to fit a bigger speaker, and just looked horrible. You'd probably do a neater job, though.
  17. Personally, I like the contrast between a black hub and a white or grey wheel. I've never went as far as to paint the wedges but that would look good too. I always just kinda figure a junk dealer did a spray-on sherwin williams overhaul when I see the hub and wheel all the same color. Just my 2 cents worth.
  18. As far as I'm concerned, there's no comparison. A camelback offers so much more articulation up and down, and even side to side in off road conditions, where an air ride or 4 spring reyco would have two or more wheels off the ground. Camelback all the way!

  20. Looks like it's missing the line going to the air comp intake.
  21. There were two of them in running condition at the contractor's auction in Little Rock, AR about six months ago. I have no idea what they brought or where they went. I'll ask around the next time I'm over there, though.
  22. Dynamat, huh? Never heard of it, but I'll definitely check it out. The biggest reason for doing it was looks, but if it makes it quieter and easier to cool in the summer, I'm all for it! Thanks for the help!
  23. The same people that make rebuild kits? I didn't know they made anything else.
