Next time you go by, the Mack sign will probably be down, replaced with a Vo#@%o sign.
It's a slow steady process, just as it was with White Autocar & GMC.
PREACH ON HERB PREACH ON Agree 100% w/ ya
PRECH ON ROB PREACH ON ALSO Agree 100% w/ you also A LONG SLOW TWIST IN THE BUTT BEFORE REMOVING ALSO A SCREW JOB W/O K.Y. JELLY TOO
it is a sad sight yall

Thaeusler to bmt its good to know we have some emploeyes (spell?) here past or present who can shed some light of whats going on w/ or what has went down w/ them also . I HAVE LEARNED A LOT BY READING YOUR POSTS
by reading your posts i now understand why it was getting so hard to find certain parts for our DM's , R's & of course mynamesake & pride & joy "olddog" (ya i was named after a B model )
I just dont like the fact of the sweds owning my beloved Truck &^ hope they dont do to the what they did to my other favorite truck AutoCar & kill them off & A CAR SOME HOW WAS able Hang on after The Sweds ditched them but only as a REFUSE (Garbage ) truck w/ the ole White expiditor chasis
but would like to see them come back out w/ a Conventinal again like a DC OR DK OR A A64 Series or something similar to them . they was some tough trucks ( White motor co. version) & the ones my granddad had when i was growing up hung in there w/ our Dogs .
so i too was 1 who grew up around & got my name too that once was & hopefully will be again if we can get away from the sweds "THE GREATEST NAME IN TRUCKS"
But when i come backto work for my self i wont own later than a 2001 model @ best probably stick back towards a 80's or 90's model R Or DM

Give ewm a few more years and they will completely kill Mack off.... Its gonna get MUCH worse for them.
WV : Im afraid your right they will do to our beloved what they also done to my other favorite truck AutoCar completly kill them off
but the good thing w/ Acar is they came back through emploeyes & build a truck now bad thing is still no conventinal truck just a low cab over that was once the White expeditor & most of them are garbage trucks but if they would come back w/the A-64 OR DC OR DK SERIES Or somthing similar to them i might consider buying 1 .

I can't speak as to the availability of parts but Service and Remanufacturing do their best to keep all the old Mack’s running. The dealer network is not part of corporate Mack. All I can say is if your not happy with your dealer find a new one. I'm sure Barry would be glad to help you.
W/ "olddog" thats what i did (IFOUND OUT BOUT BARRY THROUGH MY DEALER Down in Memphis ) but still delt w/ ours here on the R's & DM FOR PARTS .

Again, Mack/Volvo needs to understand their customers... Mack's core customer is a small construction business with between 1 and 10 trucks, mostly with dump boxes. In construction it's hard to put on a lot of miles due to weather, lack of work, etc.. Combine that with Mack durability and it's not unusual for a customer to keep their new Mack for 20 years or more. If the owner of a 10 year old RD600 can't get parts for it, you can guarentee that his next new truck won't have a bulldog on the hood!
Amen G.G. THANKYOU for pointing this out
My family has owned a couple of ALMOST NEW 's but never factory fresh new in my life time but for the most part like someone else posted we were the part that would buy a used WE Owned 4 tandem Mack dumps & 2 tandem Mack tractors & OF COURSE "OLDDOG" (Our singleaxle B422T Tractor) @ 1 TIME & ONLY 2 OF THEM WERE LIKE 1 TO 2 YEARS OLD @ THE TIME the rest were 5 to 10+ YEAR OLD TRUCKS we ran these truck for like 15+ years In our small excavating company
we never had problems fing parts for the R Model's & DM's but round 94' or 95' it was getting hard to find parts for "olddog" thats when the parts men @ TRISTATE TOLD ME BOUT Tidewater Mack & of course bout our webmaster Barry @ Watts Mack .
now im ready to get back out there w/ a ole R Or DM OR MC/MR model (tractor verson ) & WANTING GO BACK TO MY ROOTS Truck wise but if i cant parts for a older Dog i may have to go to my second choice (K.W. ) or a ole Jimmy (ya im partail to a 9500, Brigadier & General) or a pre VOLVO IZED AutoCar as bad id hate to.
ive got a buddy of mine who can build a from the frame up w/ the spare parts he has & his fleet of roll off trucks except maybe 3 trucks are ole Mack DM Model's nothing newer than a 96' model is in his fleet (his oldest truck is a 74' model & is 1 good lookin dog ) he & i agree the ole mechanical dogs are best . if i need parts & the dealer doesnt have it i check w/ him alot to
just my 2 cents yall

GUY TO BMT Glad to have ya hear .
Barry pretty much summed up my thoughts & feelings on the brand
as i & my family have ran 's for years & i get my name from my pride & joy as i & my family have called him "olddog" cause the 1964'B422T Single axle tractor Was the oldest & most pulling truck in our fleet (gear ratio in rearend in 6:14 top speed 49m.ph. ) when my granddad passed in apirl of 05' it was the 1 truck out of small fleet of 5' i was able to able to save BECAUSE "OLDDOG" IS TITLED IN MY NAME the others along w/ our heavy equipment was sold due to my granddad didnt have a will . & probate court made us liqidate everything . out 5 trucks 4 of them was 's the other was 1 of other favorite makes & models that THE SWEDS Done under A G.MC. Brigadier w/ a 318 Detroit & 13spd on double frame , 44k rockwell rears & 14k f/a on walking beams . we alsoliked Autocar but never liked the Volvo motor . we had a few ole DK MODELS W/BUTTERFLY HOODS W/BigCam "Hummin " Cummins
I'm currently working for a couple friends of mine 1 who used to sell us our truck tires another who was my granddads right hand man for 30+ years but both of them know i want to be back on my own & i had to crawl before i was able to walk again & my friend that i currently work for will defintly be there when i needc them & probably late this year or earlynext year i will be back out there w/ a TRACTOR OR triaxle Dump bucket .& im not want nothing later than a 95 model (perfer a DM , SuperDog , or a R model ) i want a mechanical motor something simple i can work on myself .
Sorry to ramble on but just had to give a littlebackground on myself as ya can see excavating & trucking runs in my blood & ill never get it out hell, iwouldnt try to get dirt work & trucking out my blood cause id go nuts if i wasnt rond them
Again welcome TO BMT

thats what i was thinking too late 88 early 89
i remember the 1st 1 i saw on the lot down @ TRISTATE Mack in Memphis i thought it was worse looking than the T-600 & T-800 KW's when they 1st cameout .
I rememer asking my granddad "pops is that the model That is gonna replace the R Model?"
He told me "Ihopenot cause i dont plan on buying somthing that ugly " i guess the looks of the CH Grew on me over time cause id own 1 now as long as it was speced to lowbow specs .
but still perfer a ole R Model over a CH Though

glad to hear ya are alright ive laid a couple of Trucks over myself 1 DM & A GMC General w/ 24' Dumptrailer (wind gust @ 45 to 50mph done this 1 in w/ trailer in the air )
(miss that ole jimmy he had a 8V92 SILVER @ 500H.P & A 13SPD BEHIND IT ON WALKINGBEAMS W/ DUALS ) Loved to hear our Jimmy's in a hard pull making the OLE Jimmy motor screamin to ya through the duals .

Ill take a ole DM Or ANY STYLE OF R Model (esp a SuperDog) over the new granites ,pinacles etc any day
The older 's never let us down & were simple to work on compared to a new one hell ive got a 64 B422T That has been w/ my family since 69
my dad put a 711 back in it when the gas motor blown from a friend of a family that owned it before we did & it has ran & still does but im wanting to update to a 237 or 300 maybe a 350 Mack motor
this truck has been my dad & granddads truck now its mine & if it was a tandem i could put it to work tomorrow but it is still a tough ole single axle . i spot trailers w/ it ocassionly @ a yard in Memphis everyonce in a while when they need the extra help he ani pretty but he still works hard when ineed him .
We hadnt killed "olddog" yet after 43 yrs although he is retired he still sees some work to this day
I Need to post somepics of him when i get a chance too "olddog" is the only truck i was able to save from liqidation after my granddad died in apirl of 05 cuz "olddog" was TITLED IN MY NAME verything else in cluding the R's & DM's was titled in his name everything was sold due to he had no will . by the order of the probate court
im starting backwith an older either late this year or early next year however long it takes me to finsh getting my capital to where i want it & already have work lined up also (my ole connections)
ive got my heart set on a DM Or SuperDOG TIME WILL TELL WHICH OLDER MACK I WILL BUY (& IT WILL BE A )

Hey WV That ole looks good to be 31 yrs old looks better than a new one & i bet can out pull a new one too there is a demolition company down south of me in Memphis that runs DM 800'S & R 600'S W/ COAL BED FOR DEMOLITION TRUCKS man talk about the yards these beds can hold . & sound sweet doing it too
GG : Volvo cant hold a candle to a esp one like WV's
later yall

i agree w/ GG & & HK 100% i cant stand volvo they took 1 of my favorite brands of rt loader & rebadged it w/ thier name also done the same w/ champion motor graders (like a ole 710 or 720 champion w/ a cummins or screamin jimmy white , & & MY OTHER BRAND OF TRUCK I WAS RAISED ON THE BOB ALREADY HAS MENTIONED AUTOCAR
WEhad 2 of the butterfly hood DK Models @ 1 time as triaxle dumps w/ 400 BC Cummins (turned up to 500hp thanks to a driver that worked for my granddad from before i came along he is a Cummins man ) & 9spd LL Tranys & double framed w/ 16' beds w/ 2 way tailgates & 5" strights on them these trucks ran w/ olddog & the R & DM Models we had & we just as tough in my opion
i think Autocar ought build another conventail again they are now a garbage truck low cabover based on the old White expiditor (spell?) would like to see a autocar conventail again since THE GREEDY SWEDS THREW THEM TO THE WAY SIDE .
may our beloved make it through this troubled time

Hey Yall Awnser A Question For Me
in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Posted
Like most everyone else here i have been around 's quite awhile (for me all my life ) & have also made my living w/ them .
My question is out of all the DM's we have ran through the years none of ours had the hood scoop (most of ours had 237's) but have a buddy who had a 75 DM W/ A HOOD Scoop was this common on a DM W/ A 300 OR Bigger Mack motor or was there for a totaly different reason ?
ive never asked untill now & my buddy & i was talking bout that ole 75'DM The other day & it just had me wondering bout the scoop
yall have a safe one
