sounds like a cool project for those cold winter days just to get out of house & into the shop to prevent "Cabin Fever" ;)

1 thing i like bout an ole B Model is ya can find them sitting somewhere for long periods of time & either put batterys on them or pull start em & most the time ya hear BROOOM Ya know the ole :bulldog3: has came back to life blowing smoke out the pipe :SMOKIE-LFT:B)

  4. Thats a good story man i couldnt imagine loading logs by hand thank the Lord for trackhoes & loaders ;) & of course we drug our logs out w/ a 1566 blackstripe & 1256 I.H & A D3B & D4E Cat w/ hyster winches for years

never had a skidder but if we needed 1 Pop's called a buddy of his who had a TimberJack w/ a 371 Detroit in man talk bout a Screamer in the woods :D

  5. hey other dog i was the one trying to explain the difference between the 2 trannys & its like trying to talk to a brick wall <_<

Ya im still young myself (32) but i was raised on the ole 2 sticks (mack & others) & 4&2 ,5&2 & even a 13 & 2 & allison 5spd w/ 2spd . my 1st 2 trucks i learned how to drive was "olddog" & "lil jimmy" a 74' GMC 9500 s/a tractor w/ 671 (238) 5&2 tranny double framed 23k rearend w/ bellyblower exhaust (i loved this ole truck as much as i do "olddog" & when my granddad traded it for a 4wd 4 wheeler in 97' i didnt talk to him (except when i had to & that wasnt much ) for a month "lil jimmy" was in the family since 75'

loved going under a overpass loaded & hearing that ole bellly blower 238 Detroit screamin aganist the wall :D

ya put alot of these young guys in a truck w/ a 2 stick or a truck w/ a 2spd rearend most will tell ya i dont know how to drive that the others that do are probly country boys from the farm or was raised in logging or construction like i was

BTW My handle on youtube is B422T Mack ;)

  6. We had a 24' Palmer Dumptrailer w/ lowsides but we done some modifying to it after we had bought it (used) like Herb's talking about on the tail gate & made it into a 2 way tailgate for the concrete, broken ashpalt , brush &stumps & demolition to come out easier . & also bought some channel iron & made sideboards for when the trailer was hauling sand, gravel, dirt & mulch

as we done alot of land clearing & clearing for right of ways & demolition work as dirt work .

a 2way tailgate is as handy as pocket on shirt ;) & i anit gotta tell yall it anit no fun having a load hung up in a trailer while its up in the air

We had a couple of customers who had Skidsteers who done concrete work..

& alot of times if they had the room & lot of material to move id take a tractor & dumptrailer to thier jobsites over a Stright TriAxle dump & keep the triaxles hauling Gravel , Sand & Dirt & mulch .

its not a bad looking trailer in the pics what length is it Trent ? 22 or 24 feet? or a little longer ?

  8. I Came across a 85' R686 Tandem tractor w/ butterfly hood today . im interested in the truck its more of a sodfarm "yarddog" now as the it was once used to haul sod everyday now it shuttles sod from the fields to the yard . (the sod farm is like all on the same road just from one end of road to the other maybe 2 miles round trip )

I Know of the owner as he & my grandad were business aqantinces this is a 1 owner truck has pulled a skate bord hauling sod most of its life here around Memphis ,Tn & the midsouth aera in general

The only reason why it is used as a yarddog now is age is what owner told me . the oldest truck hauling sod on the delivers now is a 98 model (non mack :( )

the specs on the truck is :

    300 Mack (4" stright pipe:D)

    2 stick 6spd

    14.5k f/a

    44k r/a on camelback

    double frame

    2 line Wetkit

    p/s

    a/c (ice cold)

Tall 22.5 rubber on steel Budd wheels

    187" wb

    NO RUST

Im thinking w/ 325,000 miles on it offeriing him $6500.00 think this in the ballpark or too cheap or a little high?

im thinking its a fair price considering it could use a paint just & new rubber all the way round (tires have plenty tread but starting to look dry rotted )

    What yall ideas yall ?

ive always wanted another DM Or R W/ A BUTTERFLY HOOD since my granddad sold the 79 DM Butterfly hood dump back in 97 .
