Yeah man,im ready for some cooler weather! sweated my ass off this summer! guess getting older does'nt help, but i never really could take the hot weather. This deal should keep me busy through the winter and then some......maybe turn out to be a permanent type deal if things work out,i have right around 60 truckloads on paper right now,so i got my fingers crossed it will work out! customers seem happy so far, i told them they could'nt do any better than me! just don't want to prove myself wrong!...i'm right there with you on the chili, like i told otherdog, gimme' a big bowl (extra spicy) handful of cheese/onions, i'm good to go!...Mark
Well by golly, I may have to sweat while im eating it, but i do believe will make some tommorrow myself! randy

I've always wanted to take a tour of Texas...maybe I'll apportion plate my truck if you've got a use for a 22' steel dump...
Yeah Gambi, bring it down and i will load it up,,not sure bout touring much of texas, but you are very welcome to go from one end of pasture to the other,,,repeatedly, many times, over and over, so much you will get sick of it. I believe by the time I get through, this pond is going to be totaling well over 300 loads on a 14 yard dump, one at a time. I did get to hit the road a couple of days, sold some of it for a house pad, I needed that break, I think cows did too,,,,randy

So far so good! this coming week will be my forth load outbound, lotta' work, lotta' stops, but its light, 18,000 lbs average...but,its paying damn good money, and in this economy i'm just tickled to have more work than i can do!......owner wants to put on more trucks, but it seems all the "newbies" he's interviewed so far, are afraid to work for a living! scared to death of LTL freight!...so that leaves me! LOL!............Mark
Good to hear you are staying busy Mark, hang in there, Fall is around the corner and cooler weather! Heh,,if you get tired of "truck friendly" areas, hang you a dump bed on there and come on down. I have been hauling and dumping off road for close to 2 weeks now, and the worse thing I have to dodge is cows, had a standoff with unruly Longhorn the other day, but the "bulldog" won, I guess Im lucky i didnt get a horn through the radiator though. I really am ready for cooler weather and a big bowl of chili to go with it,,,later,,randy MOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I live in Va, but that's about my least favorite part of the country to be in. Nothing much happening 'round here, Rob's been maintaining a very low profile lately, as we look to him for leadership, guidance, and entertainment.
Wella,,Wella,,ifn you get bored up there Dog, strap on yur six shooter and slide on down here to texas. We got shit going on and flying round here on a regular basis. My favorite pastime is leaning my head over a fire ant mound and see how many drops of sweat I can get to land on an ant before he runs,,,good times roound here and lots to do. randy

There was a mine looking for parts for an SR70/80 differential in an RD800 haul truck they had. The parts for it were no longer available. The report I heard was that they replaced the truck with some Caterpillar equipment.
Rhasler, the mine I retired from was still running 1971 model DART haul trucks. They had 4 still running and probably had that many more scattered around the "hog" yard in various stages of disassembly for parts. I worked at different mine sites for the same company, the first site I worked was running mid or late 60 model long nosed EUCLIDS with V12 cummins. Those were some really fun trucks to drive! When they retired them they went to brand new 777 cats with belly dump trailers. heh heh,,several venders drug different brand dozers through the gates for testing and to try to sell, but nobody could push CAT aside on the dozer part. Marathon Letourneau tried their "test" unit one time and it took 2 weeks to get it unstuck and back out the gate,,LOL. The strip mine is a really good proving ground for equipment. randy

Westernstar offers these trucks as a complete package for companies looking for a cost effective alternative to expensive off road dump trucks from CAT, Liebherr, Komatsu etc. If you go to Westernstars website, you will see a link at the bottom for the 40 ton dump truck. The spec sheet does not list axle manufacturer, but I suspect it might be Meritor. And a quick check on Meritor's site shows that some of their heavy duty axles are made by a Chinese construction equipment manufacturer, ugh. The suspension is Chalmers.
Mack could offer the same package using either the Granite or Titan.
Yeah Thaddeus, I will take that in a Granite Package! I just gotta figure out a way to pay for it,,,randy

What do they call it? OXYMORON, or something of the sort?????
Rob
heh heh,,amazingly, that was my first thought also, a cool pete? randy

looks a lot like the ones I saw at the port in Seattle.
The story I heard Dog, one person ordered them for his contstruction co. in Peru, paid cash for 30 of them, then something went awry in the deal somewhere, dont member what though. That one is located in dallas at freightline dealer. randy

Pretty rugged looking truck(s) there. Doe's anybody know what type of planetaries they're using in these?
Dog, u is just a genius! thanks, looking at that truck makes me drool more than i usually do. I dont know rhasler , says they are 100,000 lb rear end though, i could give them satellite gears a good warming up where im working now, Thanks Dog, will mail you some ice cream,,,heh heh,,,randy

Happy Birthday Gambi
Happy Birthday Gambi Lad,,,and many more..randy

Just a hunch, but that doesn't seem like the best idea.
on another hunch, (pardon the pun) having my dick in my watchpocket doesnt sound appealing either,,,randy
-
I don't know, but it sure is a neat looking truck!
I dont know either, but it sure would benefit my "not getting on the highway, dirt doodling, pond digging operation!" Dam, I could heap some dirt up in that! randy

NICE! now thats more like it! i'd go to "big rigger" school ifn' i had a teacher like that!...........Mark

I guess you missed the first line of the hypothetical scenario.....
"Suppose money was tight"
rowdy sir, Just curiously wondering, looks like you did some fine fabricating there in those pics, do you have an opinion on a favorite brand or type of welder? Ia there a certain one you prefer? Am just curious,,,randy

PBS has a showcase of some of his best performances on right now 'til 10:30...
....sucks 'cuz it's gonna be an early mornin' for me If I watch it 'til it's over, I'll have a whopping 4 hours between my head hitting the pillow and the alarm waking me up. Oh well...I'll sleep plenty when I'm dead.
Sleep is for old people and wooses anyway,,,randy

If I were in this hypothetical predicament, I too have an air compressor in the garage...even ran a line through the wall so I have air out by where the truck parks...
I've also got a 3/4" impact gun and other assorted tools, as well as a flux-core wire-feed welder (I could buy the gas...but it's cheaper/easier to just use the flux core) as well as oxy/acetylene to pre-heat the part to be welded....and that's right here where there is no drive at all. I'm a self-taught welder...no formal training. When the aluminum shift linkage for the transfer case on the F250 broke on a cold winters day, since Ford wanted WAY too much money for a new one, I built one with some steel parts that bolted right in...
...Built my brother a motorcycle hauler a couple years ago, too...
...and fabbed up a grille for my '92 Ranger beater truck....
...not to mention the 2" receiver I welded into the rear crossmember on the Mack...
IF I ever run into this hypothetical situation, I think I'll be aight...
I do believe you have this hypothetical situation well under control, very nice work! Im just gonna assume you dont need my hypothetical welder and kinda just back on outta here, randy

I guess you missed the first line of the hypothetical scenario.....
"Suppose money was tight"
Hypothetically, I will accept "tight" cash. randy
-
Yup. Purely hypothetical to me.
Rob
Ahem,,,The easiest and most durable way to make a hypothetical repair of the nature you have mentioned is to make the repair with a hypothetical welder using hypothetical 7018 rods at a hypothetical heat range. Yes, the welder is a little more expensive, hypothetically speaking, but, if you cant locate one, I happen to be a hypothetical dealer of aforementioned product, and if you will send money, (cash only of course), sum of $3500.00, i will ship you one of my hypothetical welders, throw in hypothetical rods, no charge for the rods, and in just a few hypthetical days you will be the owner of a new hypothetical welder, hypothetically speaking again, of course. Thank you for your hypothetical patronage,,,randy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!! Randy

I followed that advice; Once. Lost 1/2 of my left nut because of that attitude. "Momma" don't take no sass from nobody ya hear?????
Rob
I hear ya, I do, might be safer to just follow her orders, I guess. They start threatening to remove cojones, guess I might cooperate too,,randy
-
Yup. She is already planning additional projects also for the out of doors such as a screenroom off the back door, a foyer for the front of the other house, a new back entrance for the other house also. The list keeps building. How am I supposed to work on trucks with this going down????
Rob
Well I aint never! Stomp your foot a couple of times and show her whos boss round there! Take Charge,,,randy

BRING ON THE COLD WEATHER! i, for one am ready for it! been a brutal summer everywhere i've been this year,we had 38 days over 100 degrees! i'm tired of it! me being a transplanted "yankee" can take the cold much better than thr heat! always put on more clothes! extra "insulation" (beer gut) does'nt hurt either! if you want to expierience heat in its truest form, ride with me sometime, wade into 2-300 pieces of furniture in a trailer at about 135/140 degrees, then we'll talk! .....Mark
yeah buddy,,u tell em,,thas whut ahm talking bout,,uh huh,,,you go dude! heh heh,,randy
-
I'd rather sweat my balls off 24/7/365 than deal with snow already...
Ah yes,,cold weather, bowl of chili, warm fire crackling, no fire ants, mosquitoes, wasps, rattlesnakes,,Oh yes, give me a home, where the cold wind roams,,I AM READY!,,,randy
