  1. Ah, so that's where you've been. Well, just so long as Killer B is OK i guess we'll forgive your prolonged absence.

We're gonna have to get you and Mark the Furniture Man together. He's one truck backing-up son-of-a-gun. If only those guys up North could give him directions on how to get back out of Mass. (I'm only here to get directions on how to get away from here).

Now we know that's not going to happen.

My next invention will be a long saw blade welded to both sides of lowboy to just saw my way through gates. I bet Mark will be wanting one of those, maybe one to saw fire plugs off,,LOL,,,randy

  2. Dead end narrow blacktop farm roads oughta be banned unless they have 40 acres at the end of them to turn that "sumbitch" around. I scratched Killer B up a lil, ifn I was a waxing person, which I aint, they would wax out, just limb scratches. I scoped that gate out in my pickup before I launched out down it. The landowner asked me if I could make the turn through his gate, the gate wasnt concerning me, it was the giant red oaks on each side of it, hell, I can destroy gates or fenceposts if I have to. I dont think I can drag a red oak down with killer though. Anyways, I studied it and pondered and kicked dirt, knowing if I couldnt make turn, it was a long ways out backwards with dozer on back, if I ever even managed to get straight again. Unloading dozer on blacktop would be a definite no-no. Long story short, I used every available bit of square footage, tortured steering wheel, cussed, hyperventilated, exasperated, agitated, but got through gate with the proverbial c*nt hair to spare. Whoo,,,coming back out wont be a problem since there is a lil room to maneuver inside gate. If I ever have to do that again, think I may just disassemble dozer and hand carry it through one piece at a time,,,,Tired Randy

P.S. It would probably behoove me to learn to turn some dozer jobs down every now and then,,randy

  4. Now thats funny right there! i figuered you was'nt right, but never thought you'd subject yourself to be a guinea pig for a shot in the ass test! LMAO! sounds like somthing i pulled on my brother when we were kids........we had an old push-mower without a "kill switch" on it, when it was my turn to cut the grass i'd just run it out of gas,or stall it out......keep in mind this was an OLD mower, did not have the rubber boot over the sparkplug, just the metal snap, that held the wire to the plug, so little brother asks "how do i turn it off"?...my answer, "just reach down and pull the wire off the plug"!!!!! (running of course) so he does, gets knocked on his ass!!! lesson learned the hard way! still has'nt forgiven me for that one, probly been 35 years ago at this point!.......Mark

Mark, thats one thing right there that really does hurt, dern spark plug will knock you silly, least it does me anyway. I do know an old gentleman here in town that ran a gas station when I was growing up, he could reach and hold a spark plug wire and just smile at you and never quiver. Everybody used to go by there when they thought their car was missing, which they commonly did in those days, and he would just go through each wire with it running, say "yep, that sumbitch there is ginning" or "no, thisn here aint doing shit." He definitly had more nerve than me,,,randy

My wife has often told me a few "stimulating" volts of electricity to my brain would probably help me, however she insists on working the amperage control for some unknown reason. Im not sure I trust her,,,randy

  6. Hi all,

New here and I need some info.

Let's say I have the money to spend on my dream truck. Is it out there? I drove one many years ago while my family was living in Costa Rica in 1975 I'm not sure of the model, here is all I know: Quad box, air starter and steel nose. I wonder if anything like this is out there, if so, would it be in good enough shape to pass inspection and work.

    Any info would be great

well, I was just guessing, steel nose makes me think it probably was a DM Mack, if speaking of the nose you are referring to the hood and fenders and not the bumper, or possibly a "B". Good luck of finding your dream truck,,randy

Its either a DM or a Sherman Army tank since it predates the Abrams,,I bet DM Mack, and, yes, put it to work,,randy

  8. I have this Ambac 8VBB pump on one of my V8's which is an ENDT865B. I took the pump to the shop and spoke with the tech yesterday, (these guys really are good) and he informs me that three of the plungers and barrels need replaced and the other five are delivering the proper fuel amounts per stroke. These things cost about $225.00 per hole to rebuild using new parts, so I'm presented the option of repairing the existing, or rebuilding 100%. I'm really not accustomed to doing much 1/2 assed so really don't know which way to go. Either way the governor is being recalibrated to the ENDT866B settings of my other RL truck that runs like a scalded dog.

    Thoughts?

    Rob

Rob, Is any of this hypothetical? randy

  9. :SMOKIE-LFT:

    Hi all;

Just thought I'd check in and tell you,my EH is back home!! I had it stored at a friend's place about 6 miles away,so I'd have room here at the house to get some other projects done. Today I drove the '54 GMC out to storage, swapped the battery into the :mack1: and drove it home. The plan is to do some work on it to get it road legal, however marginally it may be. Some of what I'm listing might never happen, some things will be done a couple of years from now,or later, unless I get extremely lucky.

Some of the things I want to get done are:

*Eventually replace the windshield, and repair the opener.

*Install mudflap hangers and mudflaps.Later, get some Mack ones.

*Re-plumb the HydraVac,only prettier this time.

*Kit the rear wheel cylinders, possibly the front too.

    *Pack the wheel bearings.

*Change the dual air horns to a single one.

*Engineer an air system, and plumb in a set of glad hands.

*Straighten the left door frame and door so the latch works.

*Replace the door glass and channels, fit power windows kit.

    *Correct the speedometer.

*Change leaky seals on the pinion and the Brownie input yoke.

*Change the lube on the boxes.

*Find the right oil filter and do an oil change.

*Install 3 inch lift blocks on the front axle.

*Might need to replace a couple of U-joints.

    *Replace the heater fan motor.

*Replace the steering wheel,if I can find one.

*Install a windshield wiper set up.

    *Loud-up the exhaust a little.

    *It'll need a clutch,eventually.

    *Install 10.00R-20's,which I already have.

*Get the left door graphics duplicated on the right door.

*Build a top for the glove box.(Open cowl vent empties it.)

As soon as I have the brakes working well,I need to go get the 40 foot trailer I have stored in Ryndon, which will involve swapping some wheels to different positions and installing the take-offs from the truck to make a passably matched set before I'll be able to move it,and tow it to where my other vehicles are located. If I have the air system worked out, this'd be a good chance to "smoke-test" it.

Don't know how much I'll be able to get done, but if I set one thing at a time as a goal,it'll move along.

Proofread your list for you, I think you should be able to knock that out by noon tommorrow, ifn you dont do a bunch of lollygagging,,good luck,,randy

  10. Since there are many on here far wiser than I, I usually post non-sensical remarks and what not that doesn't bring a whole lot to the table...here's some more...a picture I took while torching built up asphalt out of my trailer. Usually there isn't much and when there is a nice dousching with diesel fuel takes care of it. But lately we've been hauling this god-awful sticky crappy crap. I hate it. Luckily my trailer is half-round and cleans out pretty well. Guys with flat bottom trailers are getting 'free' insulation/bedliners...

Gambi, you must be hauling that cheap, chinese made asphalt,,,randy

  11. Thanks Randy! After the day I've had I needed a good laugh. Funniest stuff I've heard in a while!

Your welcome shorstack, at the time it happened, wasnt so funny to me, however, i dont think I have ever seen a kid laugh so hard in my life, he couldnt get his breath. No Mike, I dont have an iron butt, just a dead ass,,,LOL,,randy

  12. Along lines of goofy shit, bought 10 year old grandson a really neat air soft machine gun, bucket of 10,000 airsoft pellets, safety glasses, and sticky gel target. Its kinda a pricey, upscale, fully automatic, battery operated, assault rifle copy, not made of plastic but metal and will really spit out the bbs, sounds like a minigun. Well, long story short, set up target in garage, watching him really spray target, and I told him I was curious if it would sting or hurt so I told him to put it on SINGLE SHOT, and I turned around and told him to shoot me in rear, on single shot only, one time only, cause Im just a curious person, not to mention also a dumbass. He pulled trigger, it was on full auto, and I think I got strafed in ass by bout 500 rounds, really, really, fast. It stung like hell and I think I had both feet off ground for a while, I actually levitated. By the time this was over, he was on his back on garage floor, laughing so hard and redfaced, I thought he was gonna pass out. He finally got his breath and told me I looked like a cheerleader when they jump in air and touch both feet. He seemed to be impressed that grandpa had some moves left in him. Anyway, dont try this, airsoft guns do sting, especially multiple rounds in ass. Test Dummy Randy

  13. So sorry to hear of the passing of a long time trusted ( and rusted) friend.

Please accept my sympathies, and extend condolences to Mrs. Rob as she won't have to look at that piece of shit anymore

    Ed

heh heh hatcity,,I bet thats what they tell Mrs. Randy when I pass,,,"Well, at least you wont have to look at that piece of shit anymore." LOL randy

  14. When I lived in TN, it was even worse. I don't remember the details, but they had/have a pretty rough inventory tax for retailers - so nobody would stock much. I think it was applied monthly, and it was pretty high (to make up for having no state income tax, I'm sure). If I was in the Brisol area and needed a part that day, I went north into VA.

Amen to all comments, boils down to if you have several billion dollars and a few lobbyists, you can get any law you want passed or rescinded. Lobbyists are really running this country. randy
